The past year has taken us behind the scenes during New York Fashion week with NYX Cosmetics, revealed insider makeup secrets at IMATS with Stila Cosmetics, introduced us to the convenience and Bare Beauty of Jouer Cosmetics, and taught us new ways to conceal dark circles with RMS Beauty. My forecast for beauty trends in 2013 includes the continuation of green beauty (like Juice Beauty’s newly released CC Cream) infused with technological advances that make beauty treatments even more accessible for consumers to use at home. Here are three products to try in 2013 that are proof we really can achieve the beauty results we want from the comfort of our own homes.
1. no!no! Hair Remover: While at home hair removal tools often prove to be frightening endeavors, I decided to give the no!no! hair removal system a shot, based on its many awards, such as Allure Magazine Best of Beauty and InStyle Beauty Breakthrough Product of the Year. The patented Thermicon techology works with heat and a small thin wire to remove hair over a period of 4-6 weeks. Patience is said to be the key to using this product, but in the short time I’ve experimented with it I have been impressed that it did remove hair without redness on my normally sensitive skin with the worst side effects being the smell of burning hair and a little tingling.
2. Caudalie Vinexpert Anti-Aging Eye and Lip Serum: Since learning this past year that the difference between a serum and a moisturizer is that a serum targets the deeper layers of your skin, testing out different types of serums has been a sort of addiction. The Caudalie Vinexpert line was relaunched this fall with something extra- Caudalie’s fourth patented ingredient, Resveratrol-Oleyl, which stimulates collagen and elastin production. Clinically tested and proven to fill in fine lines, reduce puffiness, and firm the eye and lip area, what sold me on the effectiveness of this serum beyond the impressive facts from their clinical trial, was my own mirror. After religiously using the serum on my lip area for four weeks, I was amazed to notice that my thin upper lip became noticeably fuller.
3. Per-Fekt Lash Perfecting Gel: It’s not a mascara, but if you promise not to quote me on this, its pretty much a mascara. And lash primer, conditioner, and tint. What sets the Per-fekt Lash Perfecting Gel apart for me as something to try in 2013 is the non-irritating, non-clumping, and non-smudging formula that leaves your lashes looking good without stripping them of that later in the day when it comes time for removal. Lashes look shiny and actually feel healthy when the lash gel is on and keep them that way as you say your prayers and remove your mascara at the end of the day.
