WWE CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT
CM Punk vs. Ryback vs. John Cena
CM Punk made headlines this past Monday when he mocked WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “the King” Lawler’s legitimate heart attack with his associate Paul Heyman when Lawler was having his emotional return to the ringside commentary table. Many fans cried foul, saying it was in bad taste but it certainly layered another layer on the hate cake that WWE fans want to smash in Punk’s face. The story in this Sunday’s Triple Threat is intriguing as it’s not about Ryback getting revenge for being cheated last month at HIAC or John Cena once again winning the title to get his return match with a waiting Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson at January’s Royal Rumble. This Sunday’s main event is all about the conniving and indignant CM Punk beating the odds pitted against him by WWE boss Vince McMahon and anyone else whose gunning for him as his title run gets longer and longer. If the Second City Saint can walk out of Banker’s Field House he will have reigned as WWE Champion for one year, and it will be a point of boastful pride that earn him yet another arena’s worth of boos.
John Cena is dealing with plenty outside the ring besides the almost undefeated Ryback and Punk. His soap opera story line involving him being accused of a scandalous affair with former RAW GM A.J. Lee can not give the leader of the Cenation the clarity he needs to capture the WWE’s greatest prize, the WWE Championship. With RAW ‘Managing Supervisor’ Vickie Guerrero spending all of her power to convince the WWE Universe that AJ and Cena did indeed have an affair, it could roll over into a much-more impactful obstacle.
Ryback may be a mastadon in the ring, crushing jobber opponents left and right but never once has his presence shouted ‘WWE Champion’. The ‘Feeding Machine’ can do some outstanding maneuvers in the ring with a physical brutality that is matched by very few in WWE. His persona and catchphrase “FEED ME MORE!” have quickly been picked up by the live crowds as RAW and Smackdown. With all that momentum, Ryback does not have complete control of his entire act to win the big one just yet.
Prediciton: CM Punk is the big spoiler of the night winning the main event at Survivor Series through nefarious means, using the opposing challengers against one another to squeek out of the fight with the WWE title firmly in his tattooed hands. The match will deliver the goods as a PPV closer, to wipe the bad taste in everyone’s mouth after the lackluster show that was Hell in a Cell. The stage will be set for CM Punk vs. The Rock at Royal Rumble.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Big Show vs. Sheamus
This heavyweight brawl was the lone highlight from the Hell in a Cell PPV on October 28th with the closing minutes of the match filled back and forth hey-makers from both the Celtic Warrior Sheamus and the Big Show, yet Show was able to land a second KO Punch to capture the title back. Show has been cleaned of his past ‘gentle giant’ persona, and re-billed as a monster with a mean streak. With the World title back in his possession, he may seem unbeatable but WWE has played that angle too many times for a majority of smart fans to call for an upset. Sheamus may be in a better place without the World title on his pasty shoulder, as he can win back the momentum as the fighting underdog. The inclusion of William Regal as Sheamu’s s buddy and has been a sound addition to the story in recent weeks on TV and it’s unclear if Regal will play a role at ringside during this match. Show vs. Sheamus will see both men go for broke when the bell is rung, but don’t look a match of the night in this rematch. Prediction: Big Show outlasts Sheamus just barely only for Ziggler to rush the ring to cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase to capture the World Heavyweight Championship from a weakened giant.
SURVIVOR SERIES 5-ON-5 ELIMINATION MATCH
TEAM ZIGGLER ( Dolph Ziggler, Damian Sandow, Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, and ???) vs. TEAM FOLEY ( Daniel Bryan, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, & the Miz) w/ Mick Foley
This match was damaged by the big changes WWE boss Vince McMahon made to the Survivor Series card two weeks ago. Longtime WWE fans wanted to see the ‘traditional Survivor Series match’ but the Team Punk vs. Team Foley concept was mediocre on delivery. WWE made the right move to add some element of intrigue by adjusting the card to their bigger plans which involve WWE Champion CM Punk and a possible match with the Rock.
As if that was not enough the match has seen both teams lose and pick up new members. The Miz quit Team Ziggler, only to be voted onto Team Foley this past Monday on RAW. This apparently a foreshadowing of the Miz turning from a villainous heel to a fan-favorite babyface. The character change is early, but it will be odd to see Miz allied with his former foes, Daniel Bryan and Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston. This could also be Miz using this as an opportunity to screw Team Foley and reinvuigorating his villain status in WWE after losing the IC title.
Ziggler and his Money in the Bank briefcase maybe leading the charege in this match, but don’t expect the Showoff to tease a cash-in. Alberto Del Rio has been getting the bussines end of Randy Orton’s boots for some time now.. Del Rio is due to a boost and Orton is due for some changes in 2013. Del Rio could one up the Viper on Sunday to even the odds after losing in a Falls Count Anywhere match last week on Smackdown. Daniel Bryan and Kane will play up theid ‘dysnfunctional’ Tag Team act with one of being eliminated because. This Examiner sees a lot of upset Daniel Bryan fans on Sunday as it seems likely that he could be the first superstar eliminated in this 10 man match to play up his mental freakout persona.
Cody Rhodes is a question mark for this Sunday after suffering a shoulder injury and a possible concussion this week while in action on WWE Main Event. Rhodes is undergoing an MRI exam this week to see the severity of his injury to see if he’s fit to wrestle lite-duty in Indianapolis. Wrestlezone.com is reporting that if Rhodes is scatches from the card, Tensai will assume his spot on Team Ziggler.
Prediction: Team Foley triumphs in this match with Mick Foley entering the fray from ringside for a few moves to help put his team over the hump to victory. Dolph Ziggler shines, but gets bested. Foley will make his presence felt with his still-standing issue with CM Punk which is rumored to lead to possible match next month on the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Pay Per View.
WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
Antonio Cesaro vs. R-Truth
Cesaro (formerly known as Claudio Castignoli in Ring of Honor Wrestling) has been performing well with the U.S title on him for a while, with his ‘very European’ promos and unique in-ring style.
Cesaro just has not been making any big waves in the last few months as the United States Champion. Truth has been lost in the pack since his tag team with Kofi was broken up and he’s still over with the younger portions of the WWE Universe. If WWE was going to have a title switch on Survivor Series, this match seems like a possibility. Prediction: Cesaro has Truth right where he wants him in the closing moments, only for Truth to pull off a quick comeback to win the United States Championship. With Cesaro taking himself so seriously and Truth’s cartoonish ‘Little Jimmy’ act, their ying and yang elements could roll into an entertaining TV fued.
WWE DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP
Eve vs. Kaitlyn
Their will be a collective yawn released from the WWE fanbase when this match comes up, which will likely be a down-pacer later in the card. This perspective is truly shame but it’s one shared by many WWE fans at the moment. The Divas need a more invigorating story thant “who attacked Kaitlyn at the Night of Champions” which seems to be the standard line of dialogue for the ladies on RAW and Smackdown as of late. Kaitlyn has shown a lot of growth in the ring since moving over to main roster from NXT, yet Eve still seems to have manipulative mind-games on her side and reportedly the WWE brass see her as the top Diva at the moment. Prediction: Eve escapes the challenge of Kaitlyn with heelish cheat in a 3-5 minute bout. AJ Lee steps up as the next challenger for the Divas title.
LIVE WWE.COM/YOUTUBE.PRE SHOW MATCH
3MB Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal, & Drew MacIntyre
“International Airstrike’Tyson Kidds & Justin Gabriel
This should be a short yet action-driven match to get the live crowd brewing, now what service to
the future of both of these undercard acts is yet to be seen. The fact that that 3MB ( Three Man Band..get it?) has Drew MacIntyre could make for switcheroo in terms of who they utilize in this tag team match. MacIntre is returning after a brief hiatus he took due to a family illness. Prediction: 3MB will use their numbers to overcome the Airstrike of Gabriel and Kidd.
Another match being rumored as an addition for this Sunday’s Survivo Series is 2nd Elimination Tag Team Match. According to shake-ups with the Youtube preshow, a match between is Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, Santino Marella & Zack Ryder vs. Primo, Epico, Darren Young and Titus O’Neal is apparently in the works with nothing confirmed officially yet by WWE. The match would be yet another showcase for the WWE’s Tag Team division which has been undergoing a massive reboot in the past few months which is being led backstage by WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H.
