If you ask most “General Hospital” fans, they will tell you that the show has already returned to its glory days. The plots are gaining speed. Many of the beloved characters have returned such as Anna and misunderstood A.J. Now we know, for sure, that Cesar Faison was the evil villain behind the kidnapping of Robin and the possible death of Jason. Yes, fans are still hoping that Steve Burton will return to the show or, at the very least, the character will be recast. This means that Duke, who is still alive, is not the bad guy.
Yes, this writer has to admit “General Hospital” used to be her number one favorite soap opera. Like many young viewers, at the time, she was in love with Luke and Laura. Then soon many of the characters became her favorites. This included: Anna, Robert, Felicia, Frisco, Noah, Bobbie and Lucy. She loved many of the plot twists, the adventures and the romances throughout the years.
Yes, the plots, at times, were a bit on the ridiculous side. This included the freezing of the world and the cute alien story. However, she still loved the show.
Yet, as many “General Hospital” fans know the show slowly began to become stale. Their storylines began to drag on for an endless amount of time. With time, her new favorite soap became another ABC show. That show was “One Life To Live.” After its cancellation, she was heartbroken.
Then the writer and producer of “One Life to Live” were sent to “General Hospital.” Slowly, great things began to happen. One of those great things was adding the character of Todd Manning and his daughter Starr to the canvas. Starr and Michael are growing into the perfect couple. They understand each other so well. As for Todd, he can irritate the citizens of Port Charles in the same way he can the people of Llandview. He even has chemistry with another woman, Carly. Yet, he is in love with ex-wife, Blair. Blair visits occasionally and hopefully will decide to move to Port Charles, permanently, when the powers that be decides to give the actress a full time contract.
Now the biggest story on the show surrounds villain Cesar Faison. This villain has loved Anna, for over twenty years. He will stop at nothing to win her love, even kidnapping her daughter and making Anna assume she is dead. He will even pretend to be Anna’s dead husband, Duke, if it means he can be in her life. Yes, the storyline is a bit ridiculous. The actor who plays Cesar is not built anything like Duke. However, it is all in fun. This writer will go along with the storyline and pretend it makes sense. It is a fun storyline to watch. In a twisted way, it is flattering to think a man could love a woman that much and would go to such lengths. Of course, this is fiction and no man should try to imitate it. But again it is fun to watch and it does keep with the flow of the original “General Hospital” the one, this writer loved.
What do you think? Do you like this storyline? Do you think “General Hospital” is slowly getting back to its glory days?
