“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” – Psalm 16:11
Yesterday, we learned of God as Malak Yahweh, “He Who Is”; and we received a deposit in our spirits to look in a new way, to see the One Who Sees us. Today’s message will conclude this two-part series.
God promises to show us the path of life. As we behold the One Who Sees us, we behold the path of life, Who is the person of Jesus Christ. A path, according to the Hebrew origin, is orach (pr. o-rakh), which is “a literal or figurative well-trodden road, caravan, manner” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). When Jesus declared in John 14:6: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me,” He is referring to back to Himself as the path of life found in our study verse.
The Greek word for “path” as used in John 14:6, hodos (pr. hod-os), is “a road, mode or means, journey.” This is the same “road and manner” that Psalm 16:1 testifies of. We are to behold this manner, as 1 John 3:1b declares “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.” This manner that we behold is the love of the God, made manifest in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the person of God, Malak Yahweh, our Divine Messenger. Jesus is Who Hagar beheld during that divine encounter.
When we travel on the path of life, it is a well-trodden path, trampled down by the steps of the Savior as He bore that heavy and suffocating Cross all the way to Calvary, and sealed with the victory of His precious Blood. According to Webster’s Dictionary, a “caravan” is “a company of travelers on a journey.” We are in good company, my brothers and sisters, as we travel on the path of life, in Christ Jesus, Who is the path of life. Hebrews 12:1 exclaims that we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses! And since we are surrounded by the saints who have gone before us, we are to “lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1b-2).
This life in Christ is chaq (pr. khah-ee), meaning “life, fresh, strong, preserve, recover, repair, restore, revive, be whole, God save.” This incredible life is found only in Jesus Christ, and it is a free gift. The “wonderful life” that the world promises, comes at a great price and its promised land is a broken promise— a mirage; and when you see through its camouflage, nothing but sin, decay, and death can be found.
Are you tired of withering away, my brother? Has the allure of sin worn you down, my sister? Then come and drink from the Rivers of Living Water, and bask in the beautiful sunlight on the vibrant green pastures found only in the love of the Father, and made available to all through the life of the beautiful Savior, Jesus Christ.
Father, thank you for ushering us in to Your presence. Help us to spend time with You, and to bask in Your presence, so that we may find joy overflowing. Refresh us, Oh Lord, Revive us, Oh King, Restore us, Holy Father. Father, help us to draw intimately closer to You, so that You will draw intimately closer to us (James 4:8). In Jesus Name, we thank you that we are refreshed, restored, revived, and made new because we dwell in and dwell on Your path of Life, The One in Whom we lift up this prayer, our Most Holy and Beloved Savior. Amen and Amen.
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to allow God to show you the path of life, to show you Himself as the person of Jesus Christ, Malak Yahweh. Purpose in your heart, and determine in your mind, spirit, and soul to behold the manner of Jesus Christ every single day. And continue to fight the good fight of lying down in green pastures (Psalm 23); for God, your Righteous Path, has already given you the victory!
God tells us that we are blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). Be a blessing to someone by sending them this word of encouragement. If God did not already put someone in your spirit and on your heart who needs to read this uplifting message from above, simply ask your Heavenly Father who to bless on today.
