No matter how long you are able to savor the feeling of winning it all, the hunger for more returns very quickly.
So it is for the Milwaukee Wave of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
While they are still basking in the glow of winning their sixth title this past spring, they can’t wait to feast at that buffet once again.
Head coach Keith Tozer and his team will embark on that mission in just over a week.
The title defense begins on the road on Friday, November 9, in Wichita against the Wings.
The U.S. Cellular Arena will be rocking on Sunday, November 11, when the Missouri Comets kick things off for the home opener.
Festivities, including the raising of the banner, get underway at 3 p.m.
The Fisher House Wisconsin is the charity for the game, apropos seeing it is Veteran’s Day.
The Fisher House, simply put, is a Ronald McDonald style house for the families of wounded warriors.
Families of recuperating members of our armed services can stay up to two years and help in the healing process.
Funds are being raised for a Fisher House to be built on the grounds of the Clement J. Zablocki VA Hospital near Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Zablocki is the leading center for head trauma and brain injury care and a Fisher House will greatly improve the lives of those who have served so valiantly and who have sacrificed so much for all of us.
The defending MISL champs are entering their record 29th consecutive season as a franchise.
The Wave opened training camp with a roster jam-packed with the veteran presence that took them to the promised land last season.
Nick Vorberg and Marcel Feenstra will again be their stingy selves in goal.
Ian Bennett, Giuliano Oliviero, Hewerton, Tenzin Rampa, Tom Oatley, Pablo and Nick Perera will be counted on for their firepower once again.
Joe Hammes, Jonathan Santos, Josh Rife, Jonathan Greenfield, Evan McNeley and Fabinho Ribeiro will make their case for the defense.
The newcomers, in name only, are Ismael Hernandez, Israel Sesay and Luan Sales Oliveiro.
Defender Hernandez comes from Spain and the outdoor game, Sesay was a teammate of David Beckham as a member of the MSL’s LA Galaxy and Oliveiro was named Best Futsal left-midfielder.
