Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, marks seven days since the premiere of “Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2,” which is the final blockbuster film in the “Twilight Saga” series movies based on the internationally best-selling series of novels by Stephanie Meyer.
“Twilight” star Ashley Greene stopped by “Anderson Live” to chat with Anderson Cooper and his special guest co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on Nov. 20.
A very charismatic Greene treated the trio to a taste of her favorite Thanksgiving dessert – a chocolate derby pie, which she baked herself. She told the grateful group that she loves to bake, especially with her mom, which she said is a “bonding, therapeutic” thing for them.
The conversation to steered to the incredible end of the five year “Twilight Saga” film run and Greene admitted being a little sad about ending such a big chapter of her life. But, she’s also excited for new opportunities.
Ashley Greene plays the beautiful and beloved clairvoyant vampire, Alice Cullen, who has a flair for fashion and most always wears a smile.
In “Breaking Dawn Part 2,” Edward and Bella’s eternal love is sealed and Alice is actually the one who convinces the Volturi leader, Aro, to leave their coven and Edward and Bella’s child Renesmee, alone.
Hoda asked Ashley what the friendship with her “Twilight” co-stars is like off set.
“We were all twenty-somethings coming into this. A lot of personalities. I think we all mesh really, really well and I think there’s something really extraordinary about the whole experience that we’ve been through. So, I think that, in itself kind of bonded us without us really even having to try. No one goes through stuff like this and no one gets to be a part of something that’s as big as this. So I think that really kind of had a factor in how close we got.”
She also confirmed she’s with Team Edward, saying: “You know, I have to go with Edward, because he’s my brother,” she added, “I love Taylor/Jacob, but yeah, I’ll go with Edward.”
The premiere of the final “Twilight” franchise film comes at an uncomfortable time for Greene’s onscreen brother Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) and his real life and onscreen love, Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan).
The jury is still out on whether Robert and Kristen have reconciled after Kristen’s infidelity, some reports say they’re back together and others say the stars haven’t officially confirmed a reunion.
Anderson sort of hedged around the subject without directly naming Pattinson and Stewart’s problem. Instead, he alluded to fellow cast members’ personal struggles.
Ashley graciously said, “That something that I guess comes with the territory. But it sucks. It’s weird. It’s a job, you’re going to work to do your job and there’s so many other things that come along with it but, you just kind of have to, you know…”
Anderson surprised Ashley with the complete set of 4 “Twilight” Collector’s Edition Barbie dolls, one of which was Alice.
A female audience member waved her own Alice doll with pride and Anderson called her up so Ashley could sign the doll box for her.
They exchanged a hug and the fan, who claimed Alice is her favorite “Twilight” character, asked Ashley if she had to choose between playing Anastasia Steele in the onscreen version of “50 Shades of Grey” or Audrey Hepburn in the remake of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Ashley smiled and said, “I’m obsessed with Audrey Hepburn. So, I think I would do that. I mean, it’s terrifying because I would probably screw it up.”
An “EW” projection published earlier today, Nov. 21, speculates that “Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2” will most likely fall to $64 million in gross box office from Thanksgiving Wednesday through Sunday of the five day holiday weekend, which would boost the blockbusting total, when added to its $141 million opening weekend box office gross, to a whopping $225 million.
It looks like Ashley Greene and her “Twilight” co-stars have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
