Throw a Christmas wine and cheese party this season part 4: Add some fruit

So far we’ve cover pairing wines with cheeses for a wine and cheese party in two separate categories; white wines and red wines. To add an extra touch to break up the monotony of cheeses you may want to have some fruit on display as well.

As with the cheeses, some fruits can be mixed and matched with several different wines making selecting which fruits you want to serve easier.

Apples: Cabernet Sauvignon, Beaujolais, Champagne, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Port, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Burgundy, Riesling, Burgundy, Chianti, Chardonnay, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc, White Zinfandel.

Pears: Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, White Zinfandel, Champagne, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Moscato, Port, Chenin Blanc.

Peaches: Cabernet, Beaujolais, Champagne, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Burgundy, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sauternes, Port.

Blueberries: Champagne.

Melons: Moscato, Port, Champagne, Beaujolais, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauternes, Chianti, Zinfandel.

Mangos: Chianti, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Riesling, Champagne.

Dried Fruits: Bordeaux, Chianti, Port.

Plums: Beaujolais, Bordeaux, Tempranillo, Beaujolais, Cabernet Sauvignon, Champagne, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Port, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc.

Berries: Champagne, Pinot Noir, Beaujolais, Cabernet Sauvignon, Champagne, Merlot, Port, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Riesling.

Grapes: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Burgundy, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Beaujolais, Sauternes, Port, Chianti, Moscato, and Sauternes.

Blackberries: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Moscato, Riesling, Temparnillo, Zinfandel.

Apricots: Chenin Blanc.

Figs: Port, Burgundy, Chianti, Merlot, Riesling.

Bananas: Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Riesling.

Cherries: Moscato, Pinot Noir, Port.

Guava: Riesling.

Strawberries: Beaujolais, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and naturally Champagne.

Raisins: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc.

Pineapple: Beaujolais, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauternes, Sauvignon Blanc, Port.
