It finally happened. The colder, (almost) wet weather finally caught up to us here in the Treasure Valley, and as a result, there aren’t many races or other fitness events scheduled for this weekend. But don’t let that stop you. It’s still a great time to be active, especially if you involve your family, and there’s still plenty to do. And, you can stretch your legs and walk around the many holiday bazaars and craft fairs throughout the weekend. Here’s a list to help you get off the couch and be active this weekend.
Friday, November 9
Ada Community Library Family Fun Night Looking for something fun to do with your family on a Friday night? Visit the Ada Commnunity Library, at 10489 Lake Hazel Rd., Boise, and play video games, have some snacks, and watch a new release film. Saturday, November 10
Risen Christ Catholic Community Christmas Bazaar Get a jump on your holiday shopping with a visit to this craft fair. Check out handmade goods, treats, and more, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Risen Christ is located at 11511 Lake Hazel Rd.
Drop-in Volleyball Head to the Fort Boise Community Center for some volleyball fun. Nets and balls are provided. Cost is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for youth. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. All skill levels are welcome. For more information, click on this link.
Turkey Day This free event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It offers a fun, family-oriented venue for shopping local, and raises funds and awareness for childhood cancer by benefiting the Trevor’s Trek organization. St. Stephen’s Church Fair Trade Holiday Market Do a little holiday shopping, or find something for yourself, at this market featuring handmade nativities, ornaments, coffees, gifts, jewelry, and more, from Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. St. Stephen’s is located at 2206 N. Cole Rd., Boise.
Sunday, November 11
Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge Free Entrance Day Entrance, commercial tour, and transportation entrance fees are waived on this day, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other fees collected by a third party are still in effect. You can take a self-guided bird tour, hike, bike, or ride your horse at the refuge, located at 13751 Upper Embankment Rd., Nampa.
