A blockbuster sci-fi sequel starring Will Smith, a spooky animated thriller, and Whitney Houston’s last film are among the movies that premiere on demand from November 26 to December 2, 2012. (Check with your cable or satellite provider for a lineup of on-demand channels on your system.)

November 27, 2012: “ParaNorman” (Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix and Redbox releases) Rated PG.
This stop-motion animated thriller follows the adventures of a misfit kid name Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee) who finds himself in a battle that scarier than the bullying that he gets at school: A large group of zombie-like ghosts are invading his hometown, but the adults in town don’t believe these supernatural creatures exist. Norman enlists the help of some neighborhood kids, including his superficial sister (voiced by Anna Kendrick), to help him fight off the ghosts.

November 27, 2012: “Lawless” (Same day as DVD) Rated R.
In this drama, three bootlegger brothers (Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jason Clark) in Prohibition-era Virginia fight to stay in business as a corrupt lawman (played by Guy Pearce) targets them. Meanwhile, two of the brothers find themselves falling for two very different women (played by Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska), who are both attracted to the brothers’ outlaw lifestyle.

November 27, 2012: “Step Up Revolution”(Sam day as DVD; available in 3-D) Rated PG-13.
This is the fourth movie in the “Step Up” series, which all stick to the same formula: Attractive young people are aspiring urban dancers; at least two of them fall in love with each other; and there’s plenty of flashy choreography and dance scenes. The cast of “Step Up Revolution,” which is set in Miami, includes Kathryn McCormick, Misha Gabriel and Ryan Guzman.

November 30, 2012: “Men in Black 3” (Same day as DVD) Rated PG-13.
Agent J (played by Will Smith) and Agent K (played by Tommy Lee Jones) are back in their mission to save Earth from menacing alien forces. This time, J has to go back to 1969 to meet a young J (played by Josh Brolin) to change past events in order to prevent him from being killed in the future by an enemy assassin (played by Jemaine Clement) who plans to take over the world.

November 30, 2012: “Sparkle” (Same day as DVD) Rated PG.
A remake of the 1976 musical drama of the same name, the 2012 version of “Sparkle” stars Jordin Sparks as the title character, who is part of a singing trio with her sisters. Whitney Houston (in her last movie) has a supporting role as the sisters’ overprotective mother.

November 30, 2012: “Dragon” (Same day as theatrical release) Rated R.
Donnie Yen and Takeshi Kaneshiro star in this Chinese-language martial-arts thriller whose other title also known as “Wu Xia.” Set in 1917, the story revolves around a shopkeeper who kills two criminals while they attempted to rob his store. The shopkeeper isn’t what he appears to be and his true identity leads to a epic martial-arts battles.
