Downtown Aurora is getting ready to deck the halls with laughter with The Second City Dysfunctional Holiday Revue, a seasonal satire on holiday film classics, family gatherings, improvised Christmas carols, and more. The show performs on Thursdays at 7:30 pm; Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm; and Sundays at 5:00 pm from December 13 – 23 at the Copley Theatre on 8 East Galena Boulevard. Donald Nally conducts the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble in a At Winter’s Edge on Tuesday, December 4. The 7:30 pm concert features Wie schon leuchtet der Morgenstern, First Snow, Welcome All Wonders in One Sight, Un Soir du Neige, and O Magnum Mysterium. Tickets are $6 for the general public and $4 for students.
On Thursday, December 6, Robert G. Hasty conducts orchestral classics including Mozart’s German Dances, Glazunov’s Winter from The Seasons, Bridge’s Sir Roger de Coverley: A Christmas Dance and Hindemith’s Suite from Tuttifantchen. Tickets for the 7:30 pm concert are $6 for the general public and $4 for students.
Two performances of the 73rd Annual Holiday Concert will take place at 7:30 pm on Saturday, December 8 and 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 9. Under the direction of Donald Nally, the University Chorale and Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra will perform James MacMillan’s Magnificat and Nunc dimittis.
