The Thanksgiving celebration is traditionally what sparks the beginning of Winterfest in Seattle Center for natives and visitors to the Emerald City. Despite the normally temperate climate of Seattle, there will be a Winterfest Ice Rink available to enjoy winter wonderland activities for the entire family. The ice rink will be open November 23-24 from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. To enhance your holiday experience. This feature will be open Sunday thru Thursday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. November 23-January 6 of 2013 and include the aforementioned weekend hours as well.
T-Mobile will sponsor Campus Luminta from November 23-January 6, 2013 as a free event for families to enjoy 74 acres of brilliant festival lights each night beginning at dusk. The Seattle Center Armory has been restored to boast the unique historic beauty and decorated for the season in grand elegance. You can visit the Winter Train and Village featured at the armory and take in the miniature turn-of-the-century village decorated for the holiday season, and take a turn engineering the model train for a mere $2 cash donation prior to strolling the acres of luminescent beauty.
Support the Seattle youth by attending the kick-off concert by the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra on Friday November 23 at 12:30p.m. This orchestra is one of the nation’s largest classical music ensembles performed by youth and will open with a performance of seasonal music able to impart joy to even the most somber of grinch like characters.
Fisher Pavilion is offering a free event of ice sculpting that will take us through the holidays beginning Saturday November 24 thru December 29 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. daily. This event will entertain visitors of all ages and will make for a magnificent photo opportunity for all who visit.
Seattle Men’s Chorus, There’s No Place Like Home and Cat Pack will add to the entertainment beginning on November 24 and you can visit the Winterfest website for additional information and start times. Each of these entertainment delights are free for you and your loved ones to enjoy.
Beginning November 26 and performing thru January 6, 2013 the Winterfest Student Showcases will be held at the refurbished Seattle Center Armory and will also be free to visitors. This event is an opportunity for the public and private schools to showcase the talented artists and performers attending their schools, with their family, friends and neighbors throughout the Seattle community. These will be arranged at varied times, and you will need to contact Winterfest organizers for schedule information.
