“Blessed” is the word that Texas country’s Aaron Watson has chosen to sum up his many career successes in 2012, as the singer-songwriter gears for a 2013 filled with live shows and new music for fans.
Currently gracing the covers of both Best In Texas and Country Line Magazine, honky-tonk favorite Watson’s latest and llth CD, “Real Good Time,” continues to make the performer new fans, not to mention providing him with his career-best No. 9 debut on Billboard’s country chart.
In looking back on his personal and professional success during the past year, Watson, in a Dec. 27 interview with rootshed.com, said, “(The year) 2012 was full of blessings! We continue to give God the glory with everything we say and do! My kiddos — Jake, Jack and Jolee Kate — continue to fill the house with love and laughter … and are growing up way to fast!”
Moreover, he continued, “0ur ‘Raise Your Bottle’ campaign was a huge success, raising lots of money for the Boot Campaign and our disabled veterans. We were also incredibly excited to have our 11th record ‘Real Good Time’ chart (in the) top 10 on Country Billboard at No. 9. I thank God daily for blessing me with my wonderful family, friends and the greatest fans in the world. One word to sum up 2012 is blessed!”
Watson unleashes ‘Lips’ single, preps video for 2013 release
At present, Watson’s sophomore single, “Lips,” from his “Real Good Time” disc has already made its way onto the year-end charts, including a top-30 spot on the Texas Music Chart, along with most-added and most-spin increases on the Texas Regional Radio Report.
Released barely a month ago, “Lips” is among the Top 20 most-added on the Music Row Chart and “New & Active” on the Billboard Indicator charts. Plus, Watson just finished shooting the video for “Lips” in Las Vegas during National Finals Rodeo, with a nationwide premiere date set for the New Year. (Fans can expect the clip to star Watson’s wife, too, he revealed.)
“We have high hopes for 2013,” Watson told rootshed.com. “Our touring schedule is filling up quickly, with two European tours as well. … My New Year’s resolutions have nothing to do with my business. In 2013, I strive to be a better father to Jack, Jake and Jolee Kate and a better hubby to my sweetheart, Kimberly”
As for the touring front, Watson — who has sold more than 150,000 records and charted seven No. 1 singles on the Texas Music Chart — has has confirmed an extensive winter/spring tour throughout his home state of Texas in January, with planned visits to the Midwest in February. He’ll also play the mountain states in March and April, the west coast in June and another European tour in March.
