Taylor Swift and Harry Styles have been on a whirlwind lately, with the two being spotted at each others singing gigs, as well as a week of hookups at her New York hotel suite. Taylor, who turns 23 in two days, apparently has no problem with her 18 year-old boyfriend’s age. Harry Styles’ band mates from “One Direction” may be another story, according to The Hollywood Gossip today. Reports are circulating that after the band’s big concert in NYC, Taylor Swift whisked Styles off to his London apartment via her private jet, while leaving the rest of the group to fly home on a commercial jet. Sources are saying that the other guys in the band, Niall, Liam, Zayn, and Louis, are all a bit annoyed at the sudden resurgence of Swift and Styles’ romance, and aren’t sure what to make of the new couple. Meanwhile, fervent fans of the British boy band, protective of the young Harry, have even taken to calling Taylor “Yoko” on Twitter, an obvious slam to insinuate that Swift is causing friction in the band like Yoko Ono was accused of doing to “The Beatles”.
Taylor Swift and Harry Styles flew off on her private jet, leaving the rest of his band to fly home on Virgin Airlines. A source said, “They took a Virgin commercial flight and there were tons of spare seats on the jet”.
“They were a bit miffed that Harry chose to go with her instead of them. They had just finished a huge concert in NY and all of them were on such a high. The fact that he left them to travel solo irritated them a bit”, the insider told “E! News”.
The source went on to say how the rest of the “One Direction” members don’t know quite what to make of Taylor yet, because she isn’t really his type. “Everyone has been questioning whether he is really into Taylor, but that might just be jealousy”, the source said.
Apparently now some overly zealous “One Direction” fans have even dubbed Swift “Yoko” on Twitter. Yoko Ono was infamously blamed for the break up of “The Beatles” in the early seventies, due to her relationship with band member John Lennon.
But website Zimbio is refuting that comparison. They point out that it’s unfair and “really lame” that Yoko’s name remains synonymous with that of “band wrecker” after all this time, even after Paul McCartney even came right out and said that Ono had nothing to do with the Beatles’ breaking up.
Paul even credited Yoko Ono with helping to inspire the next phase in her husband John Lennon’s career:
“The group was breaking up and I think she attracted John so much to another way of life that he then went on to, very successfully, add a sort of second part to his career, writing things like ‘Imagine’ and ‘Give Peace a Chance’. I don’t think he would have done that without Yoko”, McCartney said.
Zimbio says what’s even lamer is comparing “One Direction” to “The Beatles”, because there’s no comparison, other than maybe the haircuts and the ability to make young women scream.
One thing’s for sure, Taylor isn’t going to win over “One Direction” devotees very easily, especially if she separates herself and Harry from the rest of the band like she just did with the plane ride.
Taylor supposedly did try to make up for that by riding on the bands’ tour bus in England the next day, as the group traveled between concert venues. “After 1D’s performance, Taylor got on the boys’ tour bus and took the three and a half hour drive from London to Manchester with the rest of the band”, an insider reports.
“It was a nice gesture of her. Definitely came across as her way of making nice with everyone, of bridging the gap. She wanted to show them she is one of the boys”, the source continued.
