2010 Red Burgundy:
Featuring Francois Gay and Pierre Guillemot
”Last week was 2010 Oregon Pinot Noir and the only thing I could think to follow was Burgundy. Last year we, we did a tasting featuring just Francois Gay. The wines were sold out at the end of the tasting. Since the 2010 vintage is just as highly regarded and the supply is drastically smaller, it should have been foreseen that the distributor would have sold out of every wine except one on the day it arrived. The only wine remaining in case quantity is the Chorey les Beaune. The rest are in extremely low quantities, with about 6 bottles left of each from the 14 cases we started with last week. I had to leave these unpriced just so that they wouldn’t be sold. It would also be safe to say that maybe 6 retail stores in the country got any of this producer to sell. The second producer is Pierre Guillemot, who is also a Savigny producer that also makes Corton. It is a perfect producer to have side by side. This flight also has a double bonus pour comparing two Corton Grand Cru wines.”

“It’s the happiest time of the year for all you VINO-philes who wait with effervescent anticipation for the annual POP-POP-POP of Champagne corks during the holiday season. Finally the Friday is upon us, and with much to celebrate and anticipate in the weeks past and ahead, what better time for one of my favorite events of the year. I definitely enjoy our Spring Fizz Fest each June, but there’s something about this time of year that demands we honor it with bubbly. With that in mind, and knowing of your thirsts for quality (and quantity??!), I have gathered together a fizzily fantastic flight to fill your glasses with good cheer. Several new friends, along with a couple of old acquaintances who with their new releases provide even greater entertainment value. I feel like a broken record saying this is a truly epic flight, but it’s true so what the h*ll! Make plans, gather friends, procure provisions, and stop by for these December delights…..”
