Election night has come and gone, showing that this time around, majority did indeed rule. On Survivor: Philippines, Jonathan Penner enters tonight episodes hoping that his party of one does not receive the majority of votes.
Penner is presumably all alone, swinging in the wind after Jeff Kent and Carter chose to side with Pete and his minions. Playing his Immunity Idol, Penner saved himself last week, deflecting five votes and sending RC home, who received the second-most votes. Us viewers knew that Jeff and Carter had a big decision to make, but mores surprising was that fellow returnee Mike Skupin also threw a vote Penner’s way.
For all intents and purposes, Penner is alone on the island and as the preview for tonight’s episode shows, he is not going down quietly or without a fight. Having now picked sides, what will Jeff and Carter do next? From Pete’s perspective, what’s the next move? Basically, Penner is a dead man – as this week’s episode title implies – if he can’t find a way to win Immunity for himself.
Here is the interestingly worded CBS synopsis for tonight’s episode:
Episode 8 – “Dead Man Walking” – A BRUTALLY HONEST CONVERSATION LEADS TO SURPRISING REVELATIONS AT TRIBAL COUNCIL, ON “SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES,” WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7. In one of the most complicated and entertaining Tribal Councils ever, a brutally honest conversation leads to surprising revelations, on SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES, Wednesday, Nov. 7 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Analysis. “One of the most complicated and entertaining Tribal Councils” ever? Like, ever ever? Bold words, ones that we seem to hear a few times each season, but take this as a confirmation that it will involve Penner and his inability to go quietly.
So what can be so complicated at a Tribal Council? How about math? With two Immunity Idols in play, wouldn’t it be something if Penner wins Immunity this week. Both sides would try to work with him to possibly swing a vote, but he clearly doesn’t feel close to anyone. Could this “complicated and entertaining” Tribal Council show Penner airing out each side’s strategies? Could we see more Immunity Idols in play, creating a “complicated” mathematical voting scenario?
Short of Penner being immune at Tribal Council, it’s unclear how in the world tonight’s Tribal could be anything short of predictable, let alone one that contains the word “ever” at the end of the description. Here’s hoping that Penner can pull it off and that the result is a series of unpredictable episodes on the horizon.
So what do you think? Will Penner win Immunity? If he does, how will things shake out? If he doesn’t, is he a goner? Post your comments below and be sure to check back tonight for the full recap!
