Tonight’s episode of Survivor picked up the morning after yet another crazy Tribal Council, where Abi got torn apart by her tribe mates, and Pete was voted off the island. Abi talked to Michael about how upset she was, as Denise and Jonathan eavesdropped. Malcolm and Abi went to check tree mail and found wallets with money inside, which she first thought were letters from home and started crying all over again. Malcolm tried to comfort her as best as he could.
The group met up with Jeff for their Survivor Auction Reward Challenge, where he explained the rules. Denise jumped to spend all her money on pancakes, bacon, and orange juice. Michael spent all his money on cheese, crackers, and wine. Malcolm spent $200 on an iced coffee and doughnuts. Jonathan spent $100 on a blind item, which ended up being fried chicken and French fries. Carter spent $200 on another blind item, which was a baked potato. Jeff offered him a trade for the tribe, which he accepted, giving them a fresh supply of rice and beans. Lisa spent $320 on yet another blind item – a giant sandwich with a soda. Abi paid $500 for an advantage in the game. Carter paid $200 for a blind item – veal shanks, which the entire tribe had 60 seconds to eat.
The happy group got back to camp, and the mood immediately changed when Jonathan and Abi talked about her feelings being hurt yet again. Their conversation ended with a hug. While the others wondered what it could be, Abi headed off alone to read what her advantage was. The paper said she would automatically advance to the final round of the next Immunity Challenge, giving her a one in three shot at Immunity.
In the morning, Abi decided to start lying to everyone and pretend to have another Immunity Idol. She took to talking to Malcolm to try and get him to work with her and told him she had the fourth Immunity Idol.
During the Immunity Challenge, each person was attached to a rope. Jeff asked them a question before they started, and since Lisa and Denise answered incorrectly, they had five percent of their body weight strapped to their backs as they maneuvered their way through the rope tangled around two wooden beams. Denise, Carter, Michael, Malcolm, and Jonathan all made it through to the next round, where Michael, Carter, and Denise each had five percent body weight strapped to them after answering the second question wrong. Jonathan and Carter finished first, joining Abi in the third round. Carter added an additional five percent, meaning he carried 10% of his body weight on his back. In the last round, the three had to work their way through a series of rope knots in an obstacle course. Naturally, Abi won the challenge, without much competition from the other two.
Malcolm, Denise, Lisa, and Michael discussed a plan to vote Jonathan out, and Lisa immediately ran to Jonathan to tell him she wasn’t cut out for the game. She pretty much spilled the beans on being a part of an alliance and told him his name was the one she was told to write down and vote out. She told him to go work his magic, so he headed back to camp and told Carter and Abi to vote for Denise. He went over and told Michael the same plan, explaining that he was the swing vote.
Jeff commented on Abi’s Immunity and asked if she had planned on waiting for an advantage during their Survivor Auction, which she said she did. Denise gave her therapist opinion on the last Tribal Council and said it was just people reaching their limit. Jonathan brought up the alliance he suspected between Malcolm and Denise and Michael and Lisa and begged Michael and Lisa not to vote him out, but to work with him instead. Malcolm reminded Lisa that he had a bond and also trusts her. Jonathan told Lisa if she would vote him out, she would be handing Malcolm or Denise a million dollars. Jeff asked Lisa if this situation compared to any other in her life, and she said it was, but it was too personal to talk about. Michael jumped in and said there was some validity to what Jonathan said. After Jeff tallied the votes, with four votes against Denise’s three, it was Jonathan who was voted out, and off he walked after denying Abi a hug, whistling away.
