‘Sons of Anarchy’ season finale filled with shock and awe (spoiler alert)

by root shed

Fans of “Sons of Anarchy” had plenty to think about after the show was over late last night. They may continue to think about the happenings until season 6 comes along to see what the mind of Kurt Sutter can contrive.

Jax Teller, the hero of the series has done whatever he could avoid being like his stepfather Clay, but the similarities are difficult to discern. Being a cold-blooded killer behind that adorable face, the two just do not mix well, and fans seek redemption for Jax. He wants to be more like his father, the late John Teller, but how much does he know about his real father, other than through his letters and what the club members have told him?

Gemma, his mother is a psychopath and found a way to keep Jax’s kids in Charming and eliminate Tara at the same time. Tara was attempting to avoid Gemma ever getting her hands on those kids, but her plan was sidetracked when she was arrested. Gemma is one ruthless bitch, and was willing to hang Tara out to dry to get her way.

When Jax made a deal with the devil named Damon Pope, Tig was the sacrificial lamb and was shocked by the betrayal. Jax purposely delayed Tig’s execution by sending Pope and his men inside the warehouse using the excuse that he saw hikers nearby and the shots would draw attention. Jax eliminated the men Pope left outside, then went inside in order to finish the job, saving Tig from execution and allowing him to get his revenge for Pope killing his daughter so sadistically.

The brother of the nurse who was killed is a former agent with a muddy record. However, he was given the ability to question Otto Delaney, who after being chained to the table gave him the worst evil look and then in one of the most shocking scenes in the series, bit off his own tongue and spat it out on the table as he laughed amid the blood running across his mouth. Otto is played by the creator, Kurt Sutter. Kurt has one vivid imagination and hats off to the special effects crew for making one shocking scene. Fans guess Otto will not be saying much to the interviewer. Gross!

One character that has become a fan favorite is Juice. He had a difficult time trying to remain faithful to Clay, while betraying him. Gemma also pretended to be back with him, while sneaking away to be with Nero. The ultimate betrayal was how Jax pulled off the execution of Damon Pope, with all fingers pointing to Clay. Nero insured his place in the cast by returning to his past life when he had the option to retire gracefully. Jimmy Smits, who plays Nero is another character that brought a shot of adrenalin to the series and added both the twist of a lover for Gemma and ally for the Sons.

What will season 6 of “Sons of Anarchy” bring? With Sutter at the helm, this ship loves sailing through rough waters. With Tara and Clay both incarcerated, at least one will have to be released and all roads lead to Tara. Her absence should be difficult to fill. Clay has undoubtedly overstayed his welcome, but he is so devious that he could become the next Otto Delaney.

Series breaks do have a way of skipping a few years. “Boardwalk Empire” left fans in shock with the death of Jimmy Darmody at the end of season 2. When they returned for Season 3, it was three years later and his name was barely mentioned until his mother killed his look-alike for her own worldly gains.
