On September 21, 2012, a confirmed UFO skeptic got the surprise of his life when he saw something strange in the skies over Vineland, Ontario.
“He and a few other people came outside around 9:30 p.m. to see over 50 red orbs flying in formation overhead,” explained his wife Patricia. “He said they were huge and round, and flew over the neighborhood without a sound.”
Her husband, who asked not to be identified added, “They spread out over a kilometer and were heading west.”
Patricia said she discovered “similar sightings in London and Toronto that same night, so clearly these were not Chinese lanterns, as they would not be able to travel that far.”
For Patricia, UFOs have been a reality since she was a child and was please that her husband, who never took much of an interest in them, finally got to see them for himself.
“When I was about 9 or 10 (I think it might have been younger) there was a sighting in my area of Oshawa. A cigar-shaped craft was sighted over Highway 401 and it appeared to be descending. That next day in the ravine at the dead end of my street, there were three equidistant circles pressed into the ground. I didn’t see then – I was too scared- but my older siblings all saw them. They were there for a while and ever after they faded, the grass in that area was always a little different than the rest.”
Patricia said one of her brothers heard “odd sounds” when the craft was seen that sounded “mechanical” in nature and seemed to come from “inside the house!”
However, it was not until Patricia actually saw UFOs for herself in May 2011 that she became captivated by the subject.
“I have always loved stargazing and do so as often as possible,” she said.
She explained that she was looking out of her bedroom window, which faces east.
“I have no neighbors behind me so it’s pretty good for sky watching, not many lights. One night I saw a white orb just sitting northeast of my house. It was soon joined by a second, which approached the first one at a very rapid speed. I was sure that I was going to see a collision but it slowed as soon as it reached the first orb, and the two of them flew off together.”
Since then, Patricia has seen “a lot of things” including “a strange blue flickering light that would appear south of here for many nights in a row.” Interestingly, this Examiner also saw this type of light for three nights in a row in August 2012. Although she has not seen those lights again, she said she has seen other strange lights in the sky over Oshawa, which she said seems to be “a hot spot for some reason” but her husband would simply humor her.
“He sometimes offers an explanation. Most of the time, he doesn’t know what they are – but he usually hasn’t had a lot of interest.” So when he told her about the UFOs over Vineland, she knew he was serious.
“He is not a man who is prone to exaggerating when it comes to things of this nature,” she said.
But unlike herself, her husband had an unusual reaction to his sighting.
“He is of the belief that they are of a more spiritual nature than extraterrestrial, although he really had no idea what he was looking at.”
And he is now much more interested in sharing such experiences with her. He has become “much more open minded,” she said, “particularly when he sees things himself now.”
As for Patricia, the recent sightings have confirmed her earlier beliefs.
“I have never had any doubt that there were things in our skies- not sure why I felt so certain – but seeing them simply added proof to my convictions.”
