Sad news came with the celebration of Christmas in Burns Flat, Oklahoma this year with the passing of Tex Barton Baker. Death occurred enroute to the Integris Clinton Regional Hospital on 25 December 2012. Details as to the cause of death are not available at this time.
Services for Tex Baker will be at the South Burns Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. this Friday, 28 December 2012. The graveside service is the only service for Mr. Baker; however, there will be a meal for family and close friends at 12:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. The church is located at 205 State Highway 44, Burns Flat OK 73624.

Tex Barton Baker
Tex Barton Baker, 69, resident of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, was born on
May 26, 1943, in Hobart, Oklahoma to Floyd and Lena Belle (Ohler) Baker, and passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, in Burns Flat, Oklahoma.
Tex was born and raised in Hobart, Oklahoma, where he attended school.
He joined the United States Army, when he was 17 years old. He retired from the military in the early 1980’s, and moved to Oklahoma to raise his family. Tex enjoyed going camping and watching John Wayne movies. He loved being outdoors.
Tex was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lena Belle Baker,3 sisters, Freda Joy Baker, Norma Dean Christian and Marlin Lou “Lynn” Baker, 1 brother, William “Bill” Baker and 1 granddaughter, Ariel Marie Glover.
Survivors include 3 sons: Barton Baker and wife, Linda, of Riverside, CA, Johnathen Baker and wife, Donna, of Burns Flat, OK and Raymond Baker of Burns Flat, OK; 1 daughter: Dora Westreicher and husband, Buefford, of Burns Flat, OK; 1 sister: Lela Mae Hughes and husband, C.H., of Cordell, OK; 1 brother-in-law: Layle Baker, Sr. of Marlow, OK; 1 sister-in-law: Shirley Leppert of Cheyenne, OK; 7 granddaughters and 1 great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held for Tex Barton Baker at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012 at the South Burns Cemetery, Dill City, OK, with Rev. Tom Spence, officiating. Services are under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home, Cordell, Oklahoma.
