If you don’t want to wait in the long lines at the mall to see Santa, there are plenty of opportunities to see him much closer to home. Here are some of the places where you will find him in the county.
Santa will appear at the Brigthon District Library from 11 a.m.- noon on Decemeber 8th. The library will be hosting their holiday open house from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. In addition to meeting Santa, attendees will be able to see the magic of Gordon Russ at noon. The Echos of Praise Bell Choir, harpist Diane Dunn and carolers will be providing the music during the open house. There will be refreshments, holiday stories and make and take crafts. Admission to this event is free.
Santa will also be in Pinckney on December 8, at the the Light up the Park celebration from 11 a.m- 3 p.m. He will arrive at the Putnam Township Fire Department by firetruck at 11 a.m. Stop by to see Santa and Christmas Carol for photos at the gingerbread house. During the Light in the Park celebration there will be many things to see and do. In the Township Square see a live nativity scene and attend the craft show and bake sale. A secret Santa shop will be at Grandma Barkers Place where gifts will be under $5. Enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies while viewing over 100 nativity scenes at Community Congregational Church Hayrides are available to shuttle attendees from the Township Square to the Church. At the Howell Nature Center you will have the opportunity to see Santa at either breakfast or on a hayride. Breakfast with Santa will be held December 8 and 9 at 9 a.m. The family friendly menu will include pancakes, sausage, applesauce, juice and coffee. Each child will have the chance to meet with Santa and receive a special gift just for them. Cost for this event is $8 for adults, $6 for children and under 2 is free. Registration is required. Call (517) 546-0249 to sign up. If you prefer being out in nature, Hayrides with Santa will be held on December 7, 8, 14 and 15. They will start at 6 p.m, and are also $8 for adults, $6 children and under 2 free. If you live in Brighton, Santa will be on hand for a special family night at Maltby Intermediate on December 15 from 5-8 p.m. . It is open for all ages and schools, not just to Maltby students. There is a family cost of $7, which will include all games and activities. Food and beverages will be available for an extra cost. Santa photos will be taken by Adam Baranski photography. All profits will go to the Adopt-a-Family program.
Santa will also be at the Howell Aquatic Center on December 15. For $5 a person in advance or $6 the day of the event, your family can swim with Santa from 1-2:30 p.m. The cost of entry will include a photo with Santa, a photo frame and a gift from Santa.
