Have you often wondered what happened to the good ole fashioned Christmas and community get-togethers during the holidays? You read about them in books, you see movies about them, but too often, they’re nowhere to be found in today’s world. The fast-paced, hustle-bustle of the modern world has all but eliminated the warm spirit of family and community where everyone gathers together with hot cider, eggnog, hot chocolate, cozy fires blazing in the fireplace, and singing ‘round the Christmas tree. However, in some corners of the world, you can recapture this. For one, this is your opportunity to see British singer-songwriter Sam Bradley and the Lindsey Family perform! Sam Bradley, his mum, Lee Lindsey and his sister, Grace Lindsey, will perform at the Dunderave Festival of Lights in Vancouver on December 22nd. Grace, Sam and Lee will be onstage at 3:30 p.m. PST, to perform a variety of Christmas and holiday songs as well as original songs. The stage is located at 25th and Marine Drive, surrounded by twinkling Christmas Trees! Lee has encouraged everyone to bring their mittens and cups of hot tea and cocoa and take part in this community affair.
If you’re in Vancouver, it’s one of the best ways to celebrate the true spirit of the season no matter what your religious beliefs are. It’s simply about family and community. About the spirit of love, gratitude and giving.
The Dundarave Festival of Lights embodies the spirit of giving and love, and features an eclectic ensemble of music including Druid-Celtic folk songs and children’s choirs. Grace, Sam and Lee will no doubt sing solos, original songs, as well as join together for perfect harmonies. If you have never heard them perform together, you’re missing a real treat. The night will be topped off with the legendary Christmas Wassail and Bonfire Night on December 22nd.
The Festival, which is celebrating West Vancouver’s Centennial, has featured 4 Saturdays of festivities and free entertainment. The Dundarave Festival of Lights has been bringing together everyone as neighbors and friends through the pure joy of music.
If you are in Vancouver, you do not want to miss this event. And if you’re there, say hello to Sam, Lee and Grace for the rest of us who are everywhere else in the world. Let the spirit and community of friends, family, and loved ones fill your heart this year. We need to focus on the love.
