When it comes to exercising there is no doubt that walking and running offer some of the best workouts available. Both activities use almost all of your muscle groups, they elevate your heart rate, and they enable you to burn huge amounts of calories. Walking and running are a vital part of weight loss, but you have to make sure that you have a great pair of shoes.I recently got a new pair of running shoes and wanted to share my findings with you. Here is my review of the Iso Shifts from Pearl iZumi.
A Brief History: Pearl iZumi
Finding the right shoe for walking or running is vital. Believe it or not a shoe can either make or break your workouts. If your shoes offer no support your feet, knees, lower back, and even your shoulders could start to hurt. The wrong shoe can cause injury, and will have an adverse effect on your endurance. Fortunately the guys over at Pearl iZumi are experts when it comes to running shoes.
Pearl iZumi have been selling shoes in the United States since 1981. The company was founded over 50 years ago in Tokyo, Japan. The 1984 US Mens Olympic team was sponsored by Pearl iZumi, and several other teams through the 80’s.
Because of these associations, Pearl iZumi now enjoys a cult following. Their products are loved by professional runners around the world and it is easy to see why. The Pearl iZumi Iso Shifts are hands down some of the most comfortable running shoes I have ever worn.
How do they look?
When buying shoes, consumers should really only be concerned with how the shoe feels when it is being worn, but having a good looking shoe goes a long way too. Pearl iZumi hit the nail on the head with the design of the Iso Shift.
The Iso Shift is available in three color combinations. Orange, black and silver, green, black and white, and red, black and white. All three color schemes are striking and they all look great. They will certainly get attention when you are out hitting both tracks and trails.
One of the great features about the design of the Iso Shift is that the materials offer 360 degree reflectivity. The reflective elements on these shoes really do add a whole layer of security to the shoe, which is very important for night owl or early bird runners. When car headlights hot the shoe the shoes shine, not so bright that it would distract drivers obviously but certainly enough to make sure the driver can see you.
The overall design is excellent, and the shoes are very easy on the eye. The Iso Shifts are not overly gawdy like a lot of shoes that are on the market today, and are in fact a lot nicer looking than most of the shoes that the likes of Nike, and Reebok are releasing these days. If how your shoes look is important to you, the Iso Shifts will not disappoint.
Hitting the road
Simply put the Iso Shift is a remarkable shoe. I have worn many pairs of running shoes before, and while they have all okay, they have not been great. My last pair was a pair of K-Swiss Tubes, and while they were comfortable, the amount of support during running was questionable. My feet would end up hurting at the end of my workout, and they would be sore for the rest of the day, but this is not the case with the Iso Shift after many long runs in them.
The Iso Shifts offer an incredible amount of support, this is partly due to the 1:1 360° lacing system. This lacing system ensures that the shoe conforms to your foot, no matter what shape your foot is. This lacing system offers an unparalleled level of comfort, and makes the shoe feel like a natural extension of your foot.
The Iso Shift also has lots of other technology to ensure that your feet get maximum support. The 1:1 Graduated Guidance System guides the foot from your heel strike to toe-off, this ensures that you get a smooth, consistent feeling while running, and the 1:1 Energy cell cushions the forefoot upon impact and then returns energy back to the runner.
The Iso Shifts outsole is made out of full carbon rubber which means that this shoe has long durability and better stability performance. The Iso Shift is also incredibly light which is perfect for both runners and walkers. After all, who wants heavy shoes weighing them down when trying to achieve maximum performance?
The Iso Shifts have been comfortable on every walk, and run I have been on during the last 6 weeks, and they have never let me down. My feet do not feel sore after training and I have noticed an improvement in how my knees felt at the end of a run as well. The overall level of comfort and support has far exceeded my expectations and I now understand why you should get dedicated, professional pair of running shoes rather than just run of mill shoe from a big box retailer.
There is no doubt that having the right running shoes can be vital when it comes to protecting your feet and when it comes to your performance. The Iso Shift by Pearl iZumi offers amazing levels of comfort while also providing the performance that many casual, amateur and professional athletes require when they are competing.
If you are in the market for a new pair of running shoes, do not over look the Iso Shifts from Pearl iZumi. I promise you will notice a huge difference in not only how your feet feel and your performance levels, but also in overall build quality when compared to other big name brands on the market.
The Iso Shifts by Pearl iZumi cost $130 direct from their webite, or you can find them at specialized shoe stores across the country
