The Rocky Mountain Brew Fest at the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo offers you chance to taste great Colorado craft beer from some out of the way breweries you may not have had the opportunity to visit.
There are two Saturday sessions from 1-4pm and 5-8pm and one on Sunday from 2-5pm.
Here is a list a few of the breweries and brews represented at RM Brew Fest that I’m looking forward to trying.
Backcountry Brewery – Frisco, Colorado.
Pale Ale – Features a characteristic copper color from a blend of lightly kilned malts coupled with distinctive bitterness and flavor from Washington state‘s finest hops
Amber – Reminiscent of a German Oktoberfest-Style brew with a deep copper color, smooth malty flavor and pleasantly noble hop aroma and bitterness from German hops
Big Choice Brewing – Broomfiled, Colorado
Disconnected Red – A Hoppy Amber style ale, hopped like an IPA. The malt backbone gives it a suprisingly balanced taste.
Type III IPA – An American IPA, more balanced than hop forward. It is na English style, but because more American style hops are used it’s considered an American IPA
Big Choice Brown – A malt forward American Brown with a hint of roasted flavor. Although it has hoppiness to it, it is well balanced.
10,000 Summers Saison – A Belgian Farmhouse Ale infused with local wildflower honey. Tart flavor with pepper undertones.
Eddyline Brewing – Buena Vista, Colorado
Crank Yanker IPA – Ann extremely well-balanced IPA, 7.25%UBV, 70 IBUs
Boater Beer Pilsner – A light, crisp and refreshing pilsner. 4.25% ABV
Innerglow Red Chile Porter
Mountain Fairy Raspberry Wheat
Elevation Beer Company – Poncha Springs, Colorado
Apis IV Belgian Dark Strong Ale – Part of Elevation’s Black Series, this beers sports local honey, dark fruit, caramel notes, and a hefty 10.7% ABV
First Cast IPA – Part of Elevation’s Blue Series, this hop forward IPA has heavy notes of pine & grapefruit with 70 IBUs and 6.5% ABV
8 Second Kolsh – An easy drinking, crisp Ale, first brewed as a specialty beer for the local county rodeo. 4.5ABV, 25 IBUs
Grand Lake Brewing Company – Grand Lake, Colorado
Wooly Booger Nut Brown Ale – An English brown ale, mild bodied, dark in color, while at the same time full of flavor. A wonderfully drinkable beer, with slight toffee, nutty and caramel flavors.
Rocky Mountain Red Ale – Deep amber in color and complex in flavor. A well balanced beer with medium body and a smooth finish. This beer is a blend of American and British Malts accented with a healthy dose of American Hops.
Shadow Mountain Stout – Brewed using rolled oats, chocolate malt and roasted barley, this beer has a rich, thick head and a chocolate flavor.
Hoppy’s One Ton Pale Ale – Bright amber, crisp and double dry hopped, with a “Ton” of American Hops
White Cap Wheat – An American Style Wheat Beer, left unfiltered for fuller flavor. A light body and smooth aroma make this a delightful sipping beer.
