Congratulations to the newest Powerball lottery winners! The Powerball winning numbers results for Nov. 28, 2012, are 5, 16, 22, 23, 29, and the red Powerball number is 6. The estimated jackpot at the time of drawing was just under $580 million annuity—$579.9 million to be exact—with a one-time cash option of $379.8 million before taxes, claims NBC News.com.
USA Today.com reported early Thursday morning, Nov. 29, “When the (Powerball) winning numbers were drawn, the Powerball website produced only an error message, apparently overwhelmed with traffic.”
Arizona and Missouri Powerball Jackpot Winners Split $579.9 Million
For all the hopeful lottery winners that were waiting patiently for the Powerball website to update last night, the answer to the nation’s biggest question, “Did anyone win the Powerball jackpot November 28, 2012?” has finally been settled. The good news is, there were two Powerball jackpot winners for Wednesday night’s drawing—one from Arizona, and one from Missouri, that matched all six Powerball winning numbers, according to FOX News.com.
The bad news is, the Arizona and Missouri Powerball jackpot winners have to split the $579.9 million grand prize. That means each Powerball jackpot winner will get approximately $289.9 million if they choose the annuity option, or around $190 million if they choose the cash option.
The other bad news is those Powerball jackpot amounts don’t include taxes. If you are either the Arizona Powerball winner, or the Missouri Powerball winner, you can expect to fork over 25 percent in federal lottery taxes to Uncle Sam. Arizona lottery winners also have to pay 5 percent in state taxes, while Missouri lottery winners need to hand over 4 percent in state taxes. Even with all that taken out of your huge jackpot, you’ll still have a bank account full of money just in time for Christmas!
When is the Next Powerball Drawing?
The Powerball winning numbers are scheduled to be drawn on Dec. 1, 2012 at 10:59 p.m. ET. Since there were two Powerball jackpot winners on Wednesday night, Saturday’s jackpot will be reset to $40 million annuity, or $26.2 million cash-value. The Powerball game is played in 42 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Powerball numbers are drawn live Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
