A California witness at Tustin reported that an unusual object turned up on one of several images taken just before 5 p.m. on December 27, 2012, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
UPDATE: The photo in this report is a hoax. The two submitted images were the same image – with the “toy UFO” added in one of the photos.
“I didn’t see the object until I reviewed my pictures the following morning,” the witness stated. “Out of seven pictures that I took, the object is only in one of them. I never saw this object with my naked eyes, and I am stunned and confused by this picture.”
The witness submitted two images with the MUFON report, which was filed on December 30, 2012. Image 1 shows the object in question, and Image 2 shows the same scene without the object.
The two images are framed so exactly that we assume the photographer must have been using a tripod – the two images look exactly alike except for the “inserted” object in the sky in Image 1. In past cases where a witness has taken multiple images from the same location, there is often a slight movement between each image.
A very high percentage of images submitted to MUFON where the witness claims the object was not seen at the time – turn out to be birds in motion or other easily explained objects. Some objects turn out to be hoaxed in just a small percentage of cases. Please wait until California MUFON completes an investigation into this case before finalizing an opinion. Beware of all still photography and video images until they have been properly analyzed.
The above quotes were edited for clarity. Tustin is a city in Orange County, CA, population 75,540.
California is a current UFO ALERT 3 rating, with a high number of UFO sightings nationally. California had 53 cases in November – the highest reporting state in the nation.
You can read more details about other recently reported cases at the UFO Examiner home page.
The following is the unedited report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If California MUFON investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
December 27, 2012, 4:54 p.m., Tustin, CA – I took several pictures with my cell phone of the moon over the mountain when I was at a stop light. I didnt see the object until I reviewed my pictures the following morning. Case 44847.
I took several pictures with my cell phone of the moon over the mountain when I was waiting at a stop light in Tustin, CA. I didnt see the object until I reviewed my pictures the following morning. Out of seven pictures that I took, the object is only in one of them. I never saw this object with my naked eyes, and I am stunned and confused by this picture. My wife was with me in the car at the time that I took the pictures with my cell phone. We were talking about how beautiful the moon looked over the mountain. I showed her the pictures on my cell phone the next morning and we both dont know what to think. I have all of the pictures on my phone and they are time stamped and dated.
