This episode was pretty much a snooze fest. You could sleep through NeNe’s photo shoot with Ebony magazine, Porsha showing off her seven or eight bedroom house and talking about her riff with Kenya (once again) and Kenya’s unrelenting pursuit to get Walter to propose to her.
On to the more interesting part of the show – rumors of divorce set off like wildfire amongst the group about Phaedra and Apollo. Viewers already saw that Apollo and Kenya were flirting in Anguilla and Phaedra seemed a little threatened by that interaction.
In this episode, the two seem to be at odds when they have a disagreement about their “donkey booty” workout tape in a meeting right in front of Kenya- their potential producer for the project.
The divorce rumors are further escalated when Cynthia chimes in about how Apollo frequents the strip club. She seemed thrown off guard when Peter admits that he goes as well. Somehow it seemed okay her man makes regular visits. Peter backs up his friend by stating, “Apollo is thirty two years old and he’s been locked up for six years. Looking at men for six years. Maybe he just wants to catch up on the ass game.”
Cynthia and Peter invite Phaedra and Apollo to a strip club. Apparently Cynthia didn’t do her research because all of the strippers were either wrinkled old ladies or out of shape women with cellulite and saggy boobs. Cynthia uses this moment to pry into Phaedra’s so-called marital problems.
Does Apollo reveal too much about their problems when he confesses that Phaedra has a problem with him hanging out all night in the strip clubs? He claims he needs an outlet and they need to go back to being the fun loving people they were before marriage. Clearly Phaedra’s facial expressions show she wants Apollo to shut his church testimonial down. And she does by shifting to the badly shaped women dancing for dollars.
You’d think this was the end of it, right? Of course not! When all the guys and gals go to Peter’s spot Bar One the fellas retreat to a separate area and take multiple shots of liquor. As the drinks keep coming, Apollo’s mouth keeps running. In a touching and intimate moment he delves into his prison life. He spent sixteen months confined to his cell and hadn’t seen the outdoors the entire time. When he finally went outside it was raining and he cried. For a brief moment he felt free. Does Apollo wish he was free from the responsibilities of fatherhood and marriage?
Well if that kiss he gives Phaedra is any indication the answer is no. “I don’t know if somebody is doing damage control but my little southern bell friend didn’t read her etiquette book.” Cynthia concludes.
Side note: Phaedra recently announced she and Apollo have a second baby on the way so at least in the meantime their relationship is solid.
Do you think Phaedra’s and Apollo’s relationship is shaky? Is Apollo cheating? Please comment.
