At it’s best, an astrology reading can inform and reveal your hidden potentials. There are so many different components of the birth/natal chart. Each piece is a piece of your personal puzzle. For example, the Venus placement indicates how we relate to others in relationship, how we create, how we love, what kind of partner we are in relationship (the 7th house of the birth chart provides further clues around this topic). If you have your Venus placed in the sign Gemini that will be very different from someone who has his/her Venus in Scorpio. If you and your partner aren’t getting along, simply knowing that your view of how to be in relationship is different could be very helpful especially if your desires or needs are being ignored.
In this way, an astrology reading can point to the inner aspects that you already know about yourself on some level but are out of touch with or in denial of in one way or other. When you deny parts of yourself you miss out on being fully realized in your heart and mind. You are trying to be a round peg fitting through a square hole.
Interpreting the astrological chart is not as easy as looking up each component in an astrology book. Each chart (and person) is completely unique. Interpreting the astrology chart is a dance which includes timing. The planets are not static. Your chart is a snapshot of the planets at the time of your birth and then the planets keep on moving. As the planets move in their respective patterns, some slow, some quick, they interact with your birth chart. Some times are more stimulating than others. Some interactions take years, some just hours.
In addition to your own, personal, evolution there is also a collective experience. For example, at this point in time, Uranus and Pluto are in hard aspect (this lasts over a period of months) which everyone can feel and observe as a collective impact. The breakdown of financial markets is a perfect example of the effect of this aspect. On a personal level, Pluto might be moving across your Sun (are you a Capricorn? If so, this is you!) which is very impactful for you as an individual and will last for months. It’s nothing short of a complete transformation of your sense of who you are.
A good astrologer is a counselor, a mystic, and intuitive artist! Reading astrology charts is the art and science of numbers, pattern and language. Astrology is a foreign language which is worth a look, if you feel so inclined.
There are many paths to uncovering the hidden aspects of yourself…the work is to find the path and engage with it.
Somatic Meditation: Awakening the Primordial Wisdom and Compassion of the Body
Wisdom and compassion may seem like lofty goals, like qualities that we might acquire in the future if we were to somehow build them up through meditation practice. Perhaps we are suspicious about whether such qualities are even possible for us, personally. A different perspective, that of Vajrayana Buddhism, is that wisdom and compassion are our very nature. Not only are they present within us right now, but they are accessible to us right now through the gateway of the body. This experiential course will provide training in somatic meditation that directly awakens our inborn wisdom and compassion. Practices taught in the course are accessible to all levels of meditation experience.
