Local Orlando band A Brilliant Lie released their first music video at midnight for their song “Live While Sleeping.” The song is their newest single off their EP “Regarding Harry Lime.”
The band, Tara Lightfoot (vocals/guitar), Tim Cook-Berry (lead guitar/back-up vocals), Xaq Teman (bass guitar) and James C. Lane (drums), has been posting daily count-down photos as part of the fun leading up to the video release.
The music video was directed by Chris McDaniel, produced by Adolfo Ferro and was shot on location at ESTUDIOS in Doral, FL. “We were SO lucky to work with such driven and creative people, “ said A Brilliant Lie’s lead vocalist/guitarist Tara Lightfoot in an email interview. “They really helped us develop a video that adhered to the song. We really wanted something that was visually aesthetic and stimulating. We felt like the song created a mood in itself, so the team created a series of parallels for the video that ebb and flow with the music. From the painting (by the lovely Maria Lankina), to the wardrobe, to the props, to the edits, these elements run together throughout the song to energize certain moments. It’s subtle in its own right, but it’s lively. It’s hard to explain, but we didn’t want to hand viewers a video and say, ‘Here’s a music video. It’s a story about blah blah blah,’ because we didn’t feel it was appropriate for ‘Live While Sleeping.’ The focus of the song itself isn’t the content as much as it is the tone. We always strive to make music that inspires a mood and strikes a chord with people, so hopefully the video does the same thing.”
“We are beyond excited and SO grateful to everyone who has shared the video and assisted along the way,” said Lightfoot. “We worked very hard, so every comment and text that we have received since midnight last night has made it all worth it. There really are no words to express how lucky we feel to be a part of the Orlando music scene.”
The band also wants to give credit to the rest of the team that made this video possible Brian Bayerl, Calvin Simmons, Charles Stancliff and Danny Velasquez on additional cameras, editor Ben States, makeup Grace Aguado from Your Face by Grace, hair Elorie Paredes and production assistants Birch Mangus, Carlos Rubido and Andrew Alderman. They have special thanks going out to Whitney King, Jim O’Donnell, Nina Rodriguez, Pam Rubido, Ale Sarubbi, Enrique Sarubbi and Manuel A. Ramos Sarubbi.
