“The hospitality business is part of who I am”.
Je’ Wesley, the owner of OrganiX Lounge, took some time on a Thursday evening (and a precursor to the weekend), to not only share his personal story, but share the OrganiX Lounge story. Nationally recognized for its focus on providing a healthy alternative by providing organic spirits and dining (by CNN), it’s more than just the usual lounge. It’s a venue which has a classy and welcoming environment for people from all walks of life, professionally and otherwise.
Wesley, a Chicago native, first starting working in the hospitality arena at the tender age of 13. But it wasn’t necessarily for the most obvious of reasons.
“Being a product of a single parent home (and the youngest of 11 children), I had to do what I could to help out at home”, he recalls. This work ethic would remain with him throughout his high school years. Even during his time as a student (and alumnus) of Northern Illinois University, as well as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, he worked his way through college by working at McDonald’s.
After time in corporate working with companies such as L’Oreal (Northeast Regional Sales Manager) and occupations such as (but not limited to) a fitness trainer. Even in light of these successes, he still maintained his connectivity to the hospitality industry by moonlighting as a bartender.
And that’s when he knew he wanted more, and wanted to do more to impact people in a positive and powerful manner.
On July 3, 2012, his desire for more resulted in the opening of OrganiX Lounge.
“The focus is to provide a healthy alternative (in regards to peoples’ food and beverage selection and consumption). More people are learning they are what they eat, and we’re also we we drink”, notes Wesley. As people are more aware of how their intake can impact their skin, hair, and other body and health-related concerns, the food and beverage options, including liquors that are ground-grown without steroids, pesticides, and other variants, providing healthier food and beverage options in one of the more sophisticated, relaxed and professional settings is what makes the venue creatively unique.
A creative and healthy alternative menu already makes the venue a standout in the dining and lounge arena. Combine this with a variety of theme nights ranging from the World Wind Down (on Wednesdays), Reggae (on Thursdays), a professional-laden set of hip hop (on Fridays), the jazz/blues/neo-soul music sets (on Saturdays), and karaoke (on Sundays), OrganiX has something for multiple audiences and demographic groups in and around the metro-Atlanta area.
A welcoming and inviting environment starts from the top. Wesley is usually on-site, and in addition to his son serving on the staff, his team serves as an extension of his hard working and innovative nature.
Regardless of where OrganiX takes him (be it locally, regionally, or other markets throughout the country), one of Wesley’s core principles remains at the forefront for all that he does.
“Work hard at what you want, as you are what you think you are. Energy flows where energy goes…be positive and keep God first”, concludes Wesley.
And through his masterpiece, OrganiX Lounge, Je’ Wesley provides a positive venue with positive and healthy benefits for all patrons in and around the metro-Atlanta area.
OrganiXally speaking, of course.
