There are a few weeks until Christmas, yet the Christmas rush is already in the air. Most of us stress each year trying to find the perfect gifts for those we care for. Getting that laugh, wow or look of gratitude when that special someone opens their gift makes all the hours spent in crowded stores and long lines worth the trouble. One place to add to your list of places to shop at this year is the One of a Kind Show and Sale Chicago. As the name suggests, this may be just the place to find unique gifts while still getting a great deal.
This will be the 12th year the event is held and will take place on the 8th floor of the Merchandise Mart, December 6-9. Things to expect at the show are original pieces of work from over 600 juried artists, craftspeople and designers from around the world. There will be a wide range of prices, styles, categories and media. Among what you will find are accessories, ceramics, fashion, fiber art, furniture, glass, gourmet, holiday, jewelry, kids items, metal pieces, works of mixed media, paintings, photography, sculpture and wood pieces.
For the fashionista on your shopping list, you can be sure to find awesome clothing and accessories. A few of the designers and companies that will be showcasing their items are Teresa Crowninshield from East Hampton, Ma; Selma Karaca from Brooklyn, NY; Arza Design company from Brooklyn, NY; Sizzlestrapz from Algonquin, IL and many, many, MANY more. Know anyone who can never have enough scarves? L Fabrika from East Greenbush, NY will be selling some of their amazing pieces at the show. The creator of L Fabrika, Lioubov Ermolova was born and raised in St. Petersbug, Russia and learned to knit from her grandmother when she was five. Ermolova became an environmental engineer, yet she never forgot the art of traditional fine lace knitting or the other craftsmanship she learned. Check out her pretty scarves of knitted lace work where she combines silk with other natural fibers including cottons, cashmere, wools and linen. There will be so much talent and originality at the One of a Kind Show and Sale Chicago show that you might very well finish all your Christmas shopping for the season.
