Oklahoma State previews Baylor game

by root shed

Oklahoma State players and coaches previewed their game with Baylor at their weekly press conference held Nov. 26, 2012.

Running back Joseph Randle seemed to have a really good handle on getting over the Bedlam loss to Oklahoma. That was a painful loss as the Cowboys led by 11 points in the second half, and never trailed during regulation, only to lose in overtime.

But Randle, and the rest of the Cowboys said the team is moving on and getting ready to play next week.

“That’s what we do. We’re football players. You win some, and you lose some. We just have to move on to the next week.” Randle said.

“We focus on the same things every week, win or lose. They don’t stop coaching us if we win, and they don’t stop coaching us if we lose. Losing does bring up some things that we could have done better, it magnifies it. But we just try to go out there and focus on the stuff that means something, the basics.”

Oklahoma State will be going to Baylor for the first time since 2009. The Cowboys lead the all time series 18-12 and has won six in a row. It could be a high scoring affair as both teams average around 50 points per game, and both teams have tended to give up a lot of yardage and points.

Cowboy Coach Mike Gundy said the team is putting the Bedlam loss behind them as best they can and they are trying to focus on the game ahead.

“I don’t think there’s any question it’s a challenge for us as coaches and players that we recover. It starts with us. We have to get over it first, and then we have to make sure our players understand, which they do. This is a mature group and they’ve been in enough games. If we don’t practice well tomorrow it takes about thirty percent of our chance away from winning on Saturday. There just really isn’t any option. I felt good about the team when they left the building late last night and I think they’ll come back and have energy and practice well tomorrow,” Gundy said.

In general coaches and players are glad to have a game coming up to focus on after the tough loss last week.

“It’s always hard to take a loss like that, but when you look at our overall season, it isn’t defined by one game. It’s going to hurt, especially since it was the Bedlam game, but that’s the game we play. It’s college football. It’s going to happen sometimes. The only thing we can do now is to look onto our next game against Baylor.”
“You don’t want to have a bye week and let all this set in. I’m very appreciative to play a game this upcoming week.” Linebacker Alex Elkins said.
