Black Friday is quickly approaching. On Nov. 12, I spoke to Howard Schaffer the Vice President of Offers.com. They did a survey that shows that Black Friday shopping is going to decrease this year due to the amount of sales you can find online.
Here is what Howard had to say about Black Friday shopping for 2012:
Do you think that the stores will still be packed on Black Friday?
“There will always be those who like the thrill of waking up early on Black Friday and hunting down the deals featured in the print ads. Stores will be packed with deal hunters, even though, they could easily just hop on their computer and find the same or greater deals online and save themselves the hassle of going to the to the stores. Now until Christmas, Offers.com is posting the best online deals and coupon codes that can save shoppers a lot of money on holiday gifts.”
According to your survey, less people are going to shop on this day. Do you think they are doing online shopping instead?
“Year over year traffic has increased on Offers.com on Black Friday. We think shoppers are getting smarter and realizing that they can find great deals online, and by using coupon codes they can save even more on their purchases. Many stores also offer free shipping on Black Friday, so this provides even more savings when shopping online.”
What does your website offer that can compare to Black Friday shopping?
“The Offers.com Black Friday Savings Center features all the top Black Friday deals. We feature over 55,000 coupons, online coupon codes and deal from over 5,500 leading stores and brands. Holiday shoppers can head to Offers.com where they will find the latest coupon and deals that are hand-verified and updated daily.”
What percentage of people will still venture out on Black Friday?
“According to our survey, 36% of people will venture out to the stores on Black Friday. For those who plan on shopping in-stores, Offers.com features all of this year’s print ads in our Black Friday Savings Center. Also, if you plan on going out to the stores, don’t get caught up buying gifts that are not a great deal, that is what the stores are hoping you will do. Be a smart Black Friday Shopper, and only by the deals and do not be tempted by other sale items”
