It might be accurate to say that Jack Reacher, a character created in the novels of author Lee Child, is a man of few words. But what few words he does use carry a great deal of power and little subtly as the new Jack Reacher trailer/ clip released today reveal. For most people, the kidnapping of a co-worker would be enough to bring a movie’s hero running to the rescue, but not Reacher. What makes him kick it up a notch is the thought of going toe-to-toe with the kidnappers. The girl is secondary. Or so it seems.
About Jack Reacher
The film based on Child’s 9th novel, One Shot, follows ex-military cop, Jack Reacher, played by Tom Cruise. In a normal good guy versus bad guy movie, the hero would come running to save the damsel in distress, but not Cruise’s character. He’s motivated by different things, making him possibly an anti-hero and far more interesting to watch on-screen and certainly to quote.
In the clip, lawyer Helen Rodin played by actress Rosamund Pike finds herself on the wrong end of the gun and the presumed bait to trap Jack Reacher. Audiences are in for a bit of a shock when instead of running to save the girl as the plot line normally goes in action films, Cruise’s character leaves the girl at the mercy of those holding her and promises to just come and off that bad guy instead. The clip is a short, but intense look at this enigmatic character that readers of the Jack Reacher novels have grown to love and one sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seat.
Reacher Movie Release Information
Jack Reacher comes to theaters next week in the U.S. on December 21, 2012. It joins The Hobbit, Django Unchained, and Les Miserables as some of the movies coming out this month.
