New dates for Craft Show & Pet Expo to benefit Greyhound Friends of New Jersey

by root shed

The biggest fundraiser of the year to benefit Greyhound Friends of New Jersey (GFNJ) has been rescheduled, and you don’t want to miss it. The 16th Annual Craft Show & Pet Expo will now take place December 8-9, 2012 at the Westfield Armory. Event hours are Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

“This event is crucial to help fund our efforts to rescue, provide healthcare and find safe, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds,” said Lynn Heiler, board member. “There will be 20 or so greyhounds at the event available for adoption to pre-approved applicants.”

GFNJ reports that the event has continued to grow year after year, and although the event was rescheduled due to Hurricane Sandy, it will offer the same variety of vendors, raffles and special opportunities for attendees to enjoy. Lunch will be served in “The Grey Café” and music will be provided by guest singer Carolyn Messina. A bake sale will offer an array of goods to entice every attendee.

“It’s a great place to shop for holiday gifts for your friends and family,” said Heiler. “Leashed pets are welcome, and even Santa will be there to pose for digital photos with the pets.”

The Westfield Armory is located at 500 Rahway Avenue, Westfield, NJ 07090. Find directions here.

GFNJ is a non-profit organization. They rely on funds generated through adoptions, grants, donations and fundraising efforts.

Funds raised at the Annual Craft Show & Pet Expo help pay for the care of hundreds of greyhounds before they find homes. This includes veterinary care, kennel bills and transportation. The funds also pay for special medical care including orthopedic surgery for greyhounds who break their legs on the track during races. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed or neutered, receive dental care, heartworm testing and inoculations.
