NBA trade rumors about a possible Kyle Lowry trade from the Toronto Raptors to the Chicago Bulls are picking up steam on the internet. They seem to stem from a report on Friday (Dec. 28) where a writer claimed that, “the club (Toronto) is now looking to move its prized offseason acquisition (Lowry).”
In his first season with the Raptors, Lowry is averaging 15.8 points, 5.8 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has struggled with injuries since his trade from the Houston Rockets, but he is also giving up a lot of minutes to fellow point guard Jose Calderon. This is where a trade might really help fantasy basketball owners holding on to Lowry.
It’s difficult to ascertain if the reports of Lowry being shopped have any truth to them, especially because the team doesn’t have another answer at point guard after this season. Calderon is a free agent who could garner a large contract as a free agent, leaving the Raptors in need of what Lowry can provide them on the court.
These NBA trade rumors don’t seem to make a lot of sense and a Kyle Lowry trade doesn’t seem like one that would benefit the Toronto Raptors. Sure, there are teams like the Chicago Bulls that could really use someone like Lowry, but right now there doesn’t look a deal will be on the horizon anytime soon. Consider this nothing more than a dream for fantasy basketball owners.
