Social media has become the fastest and easiest way to share information, stories and relevant content with millions of people in a short amount of time. Nonprofits and social service agencies are utilizing social media sites to advance their mission and bring their cause to the forefront.
Throughout the month of November, the Children’s Bureau and AdoptUsKids is partnering with agencies around the country to publicize the importance of adoption through the web and social media. The Catholic Charities of Dallas, Inc. has embraced the social media wave and uses its comprehensive website to recruit and retain potential adoptive families.
For over 25 years, Catholic Charities of Dallas has served local adopting families as a licensed child placing agency. Catholic Charities offers Infant and Finally Home Adoption options for couples looking to adopt. In the infant program, newborns are placed for adoption by birth mothers from all ethnic backgrounds, conditions and circumstances. The Finally Home program is an opportunity for families to adopt children directly from foster care. In many cases, there are no adoption fees associated with the Finally Home program.
In President Obama’s proclamation for National Adoption Month, he stated that, “my Administration remains committed to helping every child find a loving home. We have partnered with faith-based and community organizations across America to help connect children with adoptive parents, and we continue to work with State, local, and tribal governments to improve child outcomes; enhance safety, permanency, and well-being; and support adoptive families.
“I was proud to sign the Affordable Care Act and the International Adoption Simplification Act, which have made it easier for families to adopt, as well as the Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act, which will help reduce the length of time young children are without families. We have built on those efforts as part of the National Adoption Campaign, which continues to bring adoption and foster care into our national conversation.”
Today, Catholic Charities of Dallas finds forever families for deserving children and promotes their child placement stories through their website and social outlets like Facebook.
