Five guys from Omaha, Nebraska shattered the sound Sunday evening when they took on Sadie Rene’s and won. The rock band Screaming For Silence were in Canton, Ohio and surrounding areas this past week promoting their new EP “Relentless” that was released in September (2012). With each member sporting a unique look that is distinctly their own much like the bands sound. Screaming for Silence played for a crowd much smaller than what they normally do, which further drives home the reality that people need to get out and support their live local music scene.
With the help of their friends in The Motorleague, a Canadian rock band, opened the show with a sound that is as equally impressive with quickened lyrics set to a faster tempo. The Motorleague lead singer was full of compliments telling the crowd that a “Sunday in Canton, Ohio was better that any Friday night in Canada and that they enjoyed being in the States and really didn’t want to leave.”
The Sunday fun would continue once the boys from the Midwest took the stage. One look at the guys in S4S and you pretty much knew that you were going to get a rock show. The band’s look and feel is one of true in your face rock that exudes an air of confidence that included a multi-colored mohawk sported by Casey the lead guitarist. However, its not until frontman Zeb Christensen (the gentle giant of the group) opens his mouth and starts singing or at times screaming the lyrics that you truly get to feel how awesome these guys are! Singing songs off the bands current 5 song EP that includes a complete overhaul of an Eddie Money Cover (Take Me Home Tonight) that would make Geico’s newest spokesman blush with thunderous bass rifts and a drummer unleashing fury behind the kit. This band owned the stage drawing anyone within earshot with their strong stage presence and hearty vocals.
Touring is not new to the guys in S4S. They have been on the road since October promoting their new EP Relentless (2012). Screaming for Silence have been performing together for almost eight years now, and their resume as a band is quite impressive. S4S has had the opportunity to tour with some of the industry’s top national acts such as Sevendust, Drowning Pool, and Godsmack to name a few.
Last spring S4S teamed up with Justin McCain (Emphatic) in the studio to work on the bands current single “Separate.” Keeping with the heaviness of the EP, the collaboration created a hit song! “Separate” has been picked up by local radio stations and put into heavy rotation. S4S was given the opportunity to play on the main stage at Rockfest to a sold out crowd along side Seether, Stone Sour, and My Darkest Days which gained them countless fans.
Because of the growing buzz this band is generating with their live shows, it looks like Screaming for Silence will be out on tour with Another Lost Year until late December. With more promising dates in the new year, the future seems loud and clear for the guys in Screaming For Silence.
