Gretchen Hackmann will compete in the Miss California USA 2013. And now she is getting down to let’s business of picking her wardrobe. One of the most important aspects of the competition is of course wardrobe. There are three components that are judged: Swimsuit, Interview, and Evening Gown. Judging criteria includes character, poise, confidence and personality. There is also the opening act, not judged, for the contestants to introduce themselves to the audience in a black dress.
Here are the rules:
One’s swimsuit can be either black, gold, silver or white. Evening gown is up to the contestant’s own preferences, and interview outfit should be fitting of something one might wear to an interview at a fashion magazine. Heels are to be silver, gold, metallic, or nude and contestants are allowed to accessorize and style hair however they wish.
Clearly, there’s a great deal of choice allowed when it comes to determining wardrobe for Miss California USA,
I have listed some options that I like for Evening Gown, Interview, and Swimsuit. I’ve also listed some heels that are at the top of my list, and lastly, several black dress options for Opening Act.
1. Interview – should I choose a dress that’s a pretty color like blue, green, or purple? Or, should I opt for an understated hue like burgundy, black, or nude? Something beaded or simple? Also, regarding figure type, should I be looking for body-con or looser fit? Or, do you think that a two-piece suit is more in order?
2. Swimsuit – should I opt for a simple string bikini or something a little more exotic? A bikini with small embellishments? Is fringe too much or does it take away from me on stage? What about bows? Color?
Evening Gown – There are so many beautiful gowns to choose from. First, I need to determine color…a bright color or black or white? Next, shape – full-skirt or slim-fit gown? Beaded or simple? Satin, silk, or chiffon?
Heels – should I wear gold or champagne? Or, do you think a silver is better? Glitter, rhinestones, or just keep it simple? I really like the strappy heel, as opposed to a closed pump…what do you think?
