Happy Monday my lovelies! In the U.S., Thanksgiving is this Thursday, Nov. 22 and the Thanksgiving holiday marks the beginning of the holiday season. So as the holidays kick into high gear, the Makeup Examiner thought that it might be a nice idea to forgo a Manic Makeup Monday question and share some tips from celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey.
Jake Bailey is one of the Makeup Examiner’s favorite artists. His clients include some of the world’s most stunning women including, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz, Kyra Sedgwick, and Katy Perry. In conjunction with his clientele, Jake’s work has graced the covers of Elle, Rolling Stone, Shape, InStyle and GQ. Whether you’re changing up your daytime appearance for a professional holiday get-together or going for the glam at a holiday party, Jake’s tips are sure to be helpful.
During the holiday season we seem to always be on the go and I know that I may sound like a broken record, but I simply cannot place enough emphasis upon sanitary makeup application practices. And if my word isn’t enough this is what Jake Bailey had to say, “Puffs [facial] tissues are a great single-use beauty tool that can be used for a variety of application techniques from blending to blotting. Not only are they wonderfully versatile, but each fresh tissue ensures a sanitary application or touch-up of product.”
Jake shared that facial tissues are a staple in any makeup artist’s kit and facial tissues are definitely part of my beauty arsenal. When I’m on the go, I don’t carry a ton of beauty products. As I shared in the article, “Are you guilty of committing beauty crimes?,” there are a variety of simple and sanitary ways to touch up your makeup throughout the day.

The best way to blot your makeup – Take a tissue, separate the two-ply, wrap the single-ply tissue around a sponge, blot off any excess shine and foundation.
The proper way to blot your lipstick – Apply lipstick, fold tissue, place the tissue at the corners of your mouth and roll your lips over the tissue. This removes any excess lipstick and really presses the product into your lips for longer wear.
The most effective beauty-blending tool – Take the tissue and fold into a triangle, this creates a soft, yet strong beauty-blending tool that’s ideal for blending out concealer in your delicate eye area.
As always, the Makeup Examiner hopes that readers find Manic Makeup Monday to be helpful. For makeup questions and products reviews, email the Makeup Examiner. Remember lovelies – Ugly is not a physical flaw, but is of one’s character…choose beautiful!
