Lindsay Lohan problems with the IRS may not stop with the $200K lien placed on her bank accounts. Sure, Charlie Sheen has helped out, and now Mel Gibson may offer help, but IRS is not forthcoming with any breaks in the near future. Wednesday reports that Lohan’s bar brawl spurred on in part by a pilfered purse reported to have $10K cash in it, has alerted the IRS that Lohan might be refusing to report all her income.
Gee – do you think? Many high profile politicians try to keep dollars from the tax man and they expect that Lindsay Lohan, on probation for jewelry theft, might be honest and forthright? To be fair, she might have reported the cash appearance, but her accountants have fired her – and who knows what transpired between Lohan and the tax accountants.
Maybe The Wanted should jump in and help out too since Max George and Lindsay are close. In fact some media reports have linked Max to the fight, something The Wanted sees media reports as false and still support Lohan. Jay McGuiness of The Wanted quipped his support of Lohan after making some fun “Free Lindsay” T-shirts for her:
“It was reported that [the fight] was about Max, but I don’t think it actually was. But [Lohan] was a total sweetheart on the night, so our experience is quite positive.”
Lindsay may have her supporters in The Wanted, and other celebrities, but when it comes to the Uncle Sam’s taxman Fox is reporting a different tune:
“For years Lindsay has been making money doing things like nightclub and party appearances and always requests to be paid in cash. That’s really not that uncommon, but it’s up to her to declare it. And that’s where the problem is… This latest saga is so predictable, yet so ridiculous.”
Fox sources added that now that Lindsay is flagged, it may not be an easy fix to just pay back-taxes owed. Sources told Fox411:
“Lindsay had a lien for unpaid taxes that she received notice on four times at least. But, now she is also under investigation for other tax related issues. To resolve this may not be as simple as paying the back taxes.”
“The problem is once the IRS has a red flag waived in front of them, it is hard to lose them, and with the recent 911 tape where she is talking about being paid in cash, she has alerted them to her.”
It is a shame that is come down to this, and it is great to see her friends like Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Demi Lovato, and The Wanted encourage and support the star. Hopefully when all is finished and done, Lindsay will hire better managers of her money and learn how to use normal every day street sense –like keeping $10K cash at home in a safe, instead of in her purse at the bar.
