Polygamist-turned-reality-TV star Kody Brown, along with his quartet of wives–Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn–will bring their “Sister Wives” appeal, along with four of their children, to the talk-show couch Thursday, Nov. 29, when they visit “The Jeff Probst Show.”
The stars of the TLC hit series will “talk openly and honestly about their polygamist beliefs and the good and bad about managing four households and 17 children,” according to a Nov. 27 correspondence with rootshed.com from the show’s PR reps.
These days, the Brown family is the focus of the “Sister Wives” series that follows Kody and his wives as they share spirited discussions about family values and an unprecedented look at their polygamist lifestyle, complete with complicated relationships.
Admittedly, the Browns have a different family dynamic than what most are familiar with, and the series offers a glimpse into the wives’ perspectives regarding what it’s like to share their husband and parenting responsibilities with other women, in addition to responding to some of the prevalent misconceptions people have about their polygamist lifestyle.
“They think that we’re weak-willed women,” said wife No. 3, Christine, referring to a common misconception that many people have the sister wives.
“They also think Kody has this great life, and he honestly is in the dog house pretty much most of time with somebody,” joked wife No. 2, Janelle..
As for the wives, including first wife Meri and Kody’s newest and fourth wife, Robyn, they view one another as the best of friends–“sisters,” if you will–versus competitors for hubby Kody’s affection–never mind that he’s on a rotating schedule when it comes to where he sleeps.
“They have my back,” Christine said of her sister wives and their respective support for one another. “I was going through a hard time, and I was struggling, and I get all these texts saying ‘What’s going on with you? Talk to me.'”
In addition to visiting with Kody and his wives, the Thursday show, featuring Emmy-winning host Jeff Probst, will also include four of the Brown kids, Mariah, Aspyn, Mykelti and Madison, who will talk frankly about growing up in this unique situation and their relief at being open about their family’s plural-family lifestyle, thanks to the “Sister Wives” TV show.
“The Jeff Probst Show” airs at 2 p.m. (CST) daily in the Nashville market on Channel 2, WKRN.
