At this time of year, most people are at some point wondering what to buy the person who has everything. My idea is simply to buy them a book … not just any book, but a book that sings and screams about how fabulous the subject is! With that in mind, I have selected 10 books which have been released in the last quarter of this year and I highly suggest all of them for one reason or another. See what you think and remember … you don’t even have to leave home to shop for any of them!
-Audrey the 60’s is a photo biography of the movie star/ fashion icon spanning an iconic 10 year segment of her life. Fabulous photos and remembrances.
-Empress of Fashion: Diana Vreeland is the last word in biographies about one of fashion’s greatest editors and style icons. The bio covers from birth to death and all in between, personal and professional.
-In Vogue: An Illustrated History… is another beautiful coffee table tome that celebrates the anniversary of the much vaunted fashion publication. Starring roles are played by Anna Wintour and Diana Vreeland.
-Celebrating Jewellery is a lushly photographed essay that does in fat celebrate some of the world’s most exquisite jewels. The book is visually exciting in terms of quality and detail.
-Stars in Dior is exactly what it says it is. The superb telling of the history of the house and those silver screen icons who swore by the brand … the book is filled with fun facts and photos.
-Antonio Lopez is a celebration of one of the shining stars of the last century. Mr. Lopez is remembered in a grand style for the man of so many talents and as an icon of fashion and style in his own right.
-Vionnet is the authoritative biography of one of leading designer of the 20th century. Not only do you get the full story of the designer but you actually get to see the engineering/ patterns of some of her most iconic designs.
-Caroline Charles: 50 years in Fashion is testament that one doesn’t have to be the name on every ones lips to be a success. Great read and photo study of a designer who has successfully withstood the test of time in a business where the newest the latest and the greatest are the rules of thumb.
-Kate: The Kate Moss Book surely made me a believer. Beyond incredible indelible images is the redacting of a meeting of Kate and friend and that’s where it all comes together as book.
- Harry Winston lives up to the familiar lyric’ Talk to me Harry Winston!” The book is an incredible accounting to the business and the man with loads of actual quote, facts and photos.
