The Lowdown on Industrial Light and Magic’s “The Avengers” Making-Of Featurette
The video gives fans an idea of what it takes to seamlessly put together the big shot of all the Avengers superheroes finally coming together to fight as a team. It involves shots of a digitally created New York City in more than one location, a cadre of aliens, and all the members of the Avengers team all suited up and ready to go.
“The Avengers” Making-Of video gives film buffs a true idea of how difficult this shot was to create given that it has no cuts and shows every Marvel superhero in the lengthy shot. Industrial Light and Magic was tasked with visually tying four movie locations together as Iron Man flies through the streets and buildings of the city. The ILM team knew after watching the pre-viz for the big scene that making it was going to require a lot of work. This included making CG characters of not only the Hulk but of Iron Man and Captain America as well and it involved a CG version of New York City. Suffice it to say that the “The Avengers” making-of video offers fascinating look at how Industrial Light and Magic brought this scene to the big screen.
