The Humane Society of Greater Dayton was again a participant at the annual Museum Shop Around on Saturday, November 10 at the Aullwood Audubon Center, 1000 Aullwood Road in Dayton. The event has become a popular holiday tradition where shoppers can get a head start on the holidays and learn about Dayton’s wonderful museums and organizations at the same time. Your purchases help support the culture of our community and the participating organizations, which this year included:
- Aullwood Audubon Center & Farm
- Boonshoft Museum of Discovery
- Dayton Art Institute
- Dayton International Peace Museum
- Dayton Visual Arts Center
- Garst Museum
- Historical Society of Vandalia-Butler
- Humane Society of Greater Dayton
- National Annie Oakley Center
- National Museum of the United States Air Force
- Preble County Historical Society
- Riverside Historical Society
- SunWatch Indian Village
- WACO Historical Society
- Wegerzyn Gardens Foundation Gift & Garden Shop
The atmosphere is always festive, with an extensive assortment of gifts and holiday items available for purchase; the Humane Society of Greater Dayton had some sweet, soft kittens available for adoption as well! The Humane Society brought along a great variety of pet and people items to sell, from handmade cat sleeping pads and toys to a beautiful cat sculpture, jewelry and Esther Price chocolate bars for the owners! Best of all, six of those fuzzy kittens were adopted and will have wonderful, loving homes for the holidays.
As usual, the Shop Around food was delicious, with gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, soup and homemade baked goods for dessert. One could sit at a table and enjoy lunch while watching the wild birds outside enjoying their lunch!
If you missed the 11th annual Museum Shop Around, you can still pick up many of the Humane Society’s gift items at Meowza! boutique in the Dayton Mall, and the Esther Price chocolate bars are also available at the Humane Society at 1661 Nicholas Road in Dayton.
