It’s three hours before the Race Against Hunger – which benefits the Visalia Emergency Aid council. I’m feeling pumped and ready…(who wouldn’t after an afternoon of making Turkey Pops and dancing around to Def Leppard??) I mean, I was covered in sugar, so it seemed an appropriate music choice!
But today is the day to give Thanks and besides being Thankful for my family, my friends, my “day ” job and this amazing career path I’m set on….that’s a LOT to be Thankful for. And, I’m not cooking the full meal today, but I certainly will be the sous chef!
So today, delicious food, family and football is on the agenda after the race and I thought I’d leave you all with this: (can’t take credit it for it myself but it seems appropriate just the same.)
” May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs! “
So where will you get your Turkey today? For those of you who are spending the day with family, be it deep friend, oven roasted or…Tofu-ed? I’m sure the home cooked bird is on the top of the list.
There are options if you’d rather save your strength for the shopping event of the year – most of the chain restaurants are open, such as Denny’s, IHOP and others. You’ll get a variety of options, some holiday related and some not, without the prep and clean up.
