Honey Boo Boo detractors took to Facebook on Monday to hammer the McIntyre, Georgia reality TV show contestants on their grammar and spelling.
The official Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson page, run by Alan’s mother, June “Mama” Shannon and her friend Bobbie, posted a message of goodwill late Sunday night, full of spelling and grammatical errors which was duly noted by several sarcastic commenters.
The less than perfect post was written like this:
hey I know aloy if ppl have stopped by and took pics at the display or just during the day with us if u have plz post if here cause unfortunately we qe dint get to c all the pics we take and we love seeing all the pics took.. thanks so much if u can’t upload to page email them to Alanathompson31054@Gmail.com thanks y’all for all yalls support
The former “Toddlers & Tiaras” child pageant star’s family publicly invited fans to view their Christmas decorations and lights at their home in south Georgia. The grammatically challenged post was written in the spirit of reaching out to those who came by to see the decorations.
While most of the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” fans responded with adoration and praise, other commenters weren’t so kind.
One commenter said, “Increasing your popularity with the illiterate portion of our population I see” while other, seemingly nastier posts were allegedly deleted.
The Thompson-Shannon clan responded by saying:
geez it doesnt let us “edit” the post once we post it without deleting it and reposting it and YES it was made from a phone and it has typos – I think u can make out what it says but for those who can’t here>>>
[they then “corrected” the post]
Hey! I know alot of people have stopped by and took pics at the display or just during the day with us. If u have plz post if here cause unfortunately we don’t get to see all the pics we take and we love seeing all the fan pictures! If u can’t upload them to page please send them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks again for all the support everyone!
Some fans called the criticism “bullying”. One supporter wrote, “June, don’t make any excuses for your posts. Your “true” fans love you and your family no matter what the grammar or spelling is! Haters gonna hate!.” Another fan said “leave booboo alone. Y’ALL.”
The whole post was full of grievances and strife however, as some people claimed they came to visit the home of Honey Boo Boo at 100 Pine Circle McIntyre Georgia, only to be denied access to the reality TV stars and were told they couldn’t take photos with the family.
Someone acting in official capacity, believed to be June Shannon herself, later responded, “if that was last night it was b/c we was filming but we are outside everynight from 6-9 :).” She followed up again saying, “yes the family is outside from 6-9pm every night and we meet/greet and talk with as many fans as possible and take pix with as many as we can.”
“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” is currently filming its second season. The show is scheduled for a string of holiday specials and season two, all of which is scheduled to air January 2013.
