ZooAmerica in Hershey is hosting several fun and exciting holiday events sure to be a hit with kids and parents alike. Zoo staff states that the cooler temperatures bring out greater activity in their animals which makes it an even better time to visit.
1. $5 Fridays: Each Friday from November 16 through March 22 admission to ZooAmerica is only $5! Regular admission fees are $10.50 for adults; $8.50 for seniors age 55 and over and juniors (ages 3-8). Children 2 and younger are free.
2. Reindeer Tales: Guests who visit Hersheypark Christmas Candylane get to see nine live reindeer. But these reindeer are also available for group visits at ZooAmerica every day beginning November 24 through December 23, 2012. Groups such as families, friends, schools, churches and scout troops might want to consider this unique chance to visit with Santa’s sleigh pullers. Reindeer Tales teaches folks about the behavior and habits of these wonderful animals. In addition to the regular zoo admission there is an additional $4 per group member or $5.50 per group member if the group is only interested in this program. The reindeer are not at the zoo during the operating hours of Hersheypark Christmas Candylane.
3. Wild Winter Adventure: Children in kindergarten through 5th grade can register for this exciting, 3-hour program that teaches children how animals behave and protect themselves during the winter. Young animal lovers will explore the Zoo, get up-close and personal with animal encounters, participate in storytime, and enjoy a snack. This program is only available December 27, 28, and 29th. As of this writing the 27th is already sold out. Anyone wishing to register must do so by Wednesday December 12th. The link to this is here. Cost for this event is $45 for non-members, $40 for members.
4. Wild Treats: Wild treats or edible holiday presents are “delivered to featured animals by ZooAmerica naturalists” on December 27, 28, and 29th at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and again at 3 p.m. each day. Animals that are on Santa’s nice list for this event are the American elk, American martens, Canada Lynx, and river otters on Thursday; gray wolves, Sugar the albino alligator and animals in the nocturnal wing of the Great Southwest region on Friday, and American black bears, bobcats, and white tailed deer on Saturday.
