Located at 1410 Flint Hill Rd. in nearby Mumford, New York (less than 90 minutes from Buffalo), the Genesee Country Village and Museum is hosting a number of holiday events this season, including its traditional Yuletide in the Country celebration.
The festivities get underway this weekend, Saturday, November 24th, with Breakfast with St. Nick beginning at 9:30 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and hot cocoa (coffee available for adults). Seatings, limited to 100 people each, are available at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and cost $12 per person – call 585-294-8218 for reservations. Visitors can also check out “Preparing for the Holidays – the 19th Century Way” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – find out more about the program here.
Yuletide in the Country features reenactments of Christmases past, sing-a-longs, instrumental pieces and opportunities to learn about past Christmas customs. Those taking the tour can also register for the buffet-style supper featuring soup, salad, entrees, desserts and more. Dates for Yuletide in the Country are Friday through Sunday, November 30th through December 2nd, December 7th through 9th and December 14th through 16th.
Yuletide in the Country operates Fridays from 5 to 8:30 p.m., Saturdays from 1:30 to 7:45 p.m. and Sundays from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. (weather dependent). Tickets for the 90-minute tour are $22 per person and $18 for members. The Buffet is open from 4 to 8:30 p.m. each night and costs $30 for adults and $16 for kids 4 to 10; kids 3 and under eat free. Reservations for the tour are required and for the buffet reservations are strongly suggested – call 585-294-8218 to make your reservations soon.
Genesee Country Village and Museum was founded to preserve architecture from upstate New York from the 19th century. The 700-acre complex features more than 65 historic structures with more than 15,000 artifacts from the era, including Colonel Nathaniel Rochester’s home and George Eastman’s childhood home.
