There will be an ‘American Indian Craft Gourd Workshop’ at the Parkin Archeological State Park on December 1st, 2012. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You will learn about how the ancient inhabitants of Casqui prepared and stored their food. They did not have the conveniences of today. Participants in this workshop will learn the basics of how to prepare and decorate gourds that look like the ones the Casqui used many centuries ago. Gourds, miscellaneous materials and instruction will be provided for a nominal fee of $20 per person. Bring a bag lunch with you. It is always wise to call first for space availability. Barnes and Noble, at The Mall at Turtle Creek, are hosting a weekly NOOK meeting as long as there is interest and participation. The store will be introducing the different models of the eBook Reader and demonstrate both basic and advanced features. NOOK users can bring along their own NOOKs to learn and share with the group. It will be a weekly event reading new and classic stories plus singing fun songs. The event will be on Saturday, December 1st, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. and recurring each Saturday. Another fun and interesting event in the Natural State is the ‘Historic Holiday Crafts Workshop’ at Davidsonville Historic State Park. This event will take place on December 8th, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the park. Meet in the Visitor Center at 10:00 a.m. Make your own Christmas gifts for a nominal fee of $1 per craft.
