Dec. 24, The Hawaiian Islands offer vacation options for families to spend quality time, enjoying nature, year-round water sports, and a number of sightseeing options.
The Island of Oahu offers several family friendly hotel options, including Disney’s Aulani which features the “Fish are Friends” program. This program offers kids a chance to play marine biologist. Disney also offers the Rainbow Reef.
The Rainbow Reef is a private snorkeling lagoon on Oahu. It offers an up-close look at the many brightly-colored fish found in the Hawaiian waters, surrounding the Aulani Resort & Spa.
Other fun options on Oahu for children and adults, include Kualoa Ranch. Kualoa offers horseback trails, a petting zoo, and scenic walking trails.

Honua Kai Resort and Spa located at Kaanapali Beach, offers a number of water sports activities. The popular boogie boarding, is a child’s alternative to surfing.

One of the Big Island’s main attractions is, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It offers educational programs, information, and personal exploration, by foot, of the hardened lava surfaces.
There’s also the Thurston Lava Tube, a 20 minute, 1/3 mile walk through a forest, and a lighted prehistoric cave-like, lava tube. This is an excellent place to stop and see indigenous birds, plants, and flowers.
A family friendly, hotel choice on the Big Island is, the Royal Kona Resort. The Royal Kona offers a salt-water lagoon, a private beach, and kids’ snorkeling lessons.
